C6 price drop due to C7????
When do you guys think the C6 price will start dropping? Is it when official pictures of the C7 start surfacing? I want to buy a vette now but Im worried about the depriciation once the C7 comes out so I may just wait. Any opinion is welcome. Thanks guys!

C6 prices will drop due to depreciation.
Whether they'll drop an incremental amount more than that will depend on the C7 - i.e. whether it's a turd or a smash hit (both in looks and performance).

You are assuming that GM produces a beautiful car in the C7, which is not always the case. Compare the 1957 Chevy with the 1958. Compare the sexy and curvy Corvette C3 with the sanded down C4. Unpredictable.

The C4 was, at the time, considered a HUGE step forward in Corvette evolution.

maybe a year or more after the C7 actually hits the streets. why so long? guess about the price of C7s. then, think about "rising boat."

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly! But the 1984 was considered very modern looking when it came out and the car was more technically advanced in all ways. The clamshell hood, exposing the front suspension, is, IMHO, still a cool idea.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. The C7 isn't even gonna be unveiled until Jan 2013. I don't expect to see it in showrooms till at least May if not June. Early releases have usually come out May-ish. (2010 Camaro).
So that is anywhere from 10 - 11 months from now. Look for a good deal and jump in that Vette now. Enjoy it...imagine all the fun you'll have for the next 11 months....then if you really want, you can start working a deal on a C7. If you like it.

Not to derail the somewhat already derailed price discussion, but out of six generations of Corvette, the C4 is the worst.

C6 of Year Finalist (performance mods) 2019
Why worry about prices. Depreciation means nothing until you sell. If you wait to find out how much the C7 has affected the last C6 prices, you'll have waited about 2 more years.
The first formal introduction of the C7 will possibly affect the new car selling price of the remaining 2013 models, which is different than depreciation.
Playing the waiting game for the latest next model when it's more than 6 months away, just means you didn't get to own what you want for a long time.
About a year ago, there was a guy on the forum who found out he had terminal cancer exactly 1 week after he bought a new Vette. I felt happy that he got one, but sad that he only had a short time to enjoy it. If he would have waited an extra week to buy, he'd never had the enjoyment at all.

Remember the discussions about price increases!
From time to time there have been discussions about the price increases on the current C6 generation. Remember, they have discontinued models and introduced models, but with always a big price increase. Many potentional buyers are being priced out unless they buy a stripped base model. In the past, you could get a loaded NON Z06 in the mid $50's to $60's, now you are in the $80's, I'm not referring to the Verts. The affordability of the Vette is creeping away from the middle income workers and production numbers continue to drop, not good for the average Vette owner.
