Default Hello, new c6 06 owner with headlights issue!

hello guys,

i bought a 2006 c6. car was fairly tested in dealership fully and came out clean. borsa headers are installed. two days later the xenon headlights won't work, both of them at once. i try half an hour later and they work. this keeps going on and on. the dealership tested all the fuses and elec connections and the lights and every thing is ok; without knowing what is the issue.

PLEASE HELP. i saved so much money to buy this car and so far i am in love, but the lights are ruining my enjoyment.

I had the same problem ...you might want to take it to a different dealership then where you purchased it.Maybe its water damage or electrical.Mine was a fuse. Good luck and enjoy your c6

where are you? do you have more than one dealer? did you buy it from a GM chev dealer? do you have other, independent Corvette shops in your area?

yeah we do have other gm dealers but they are much worse than the current one.

when it comes to electricity i am hesitant to take it to an outside shop.

i just had my car for 3 days, i think i am kinda forced to seek outside shops other than dealership.

Any way to identify and contact the prior owner to find out if this was a problem they had?

lights go out in all options, battery, engine on, engine off.

both lights go out at once and come back together.

i did contact the previous owner with no issues at all, even the maint record does not indicate any issue.

wonder if prior owner had special lights in and replaced them with stock when he sold/traded it? as to indie shops, go ck with car clubs in your area, starting with corvette clubs if any. you can be a little less anonymous and post your state in your profile.....it might help.

Trere is a separate "relay" for high and low beams. Not sure if you can swap around but that is a starting point.Check owners manual or relay position.

Well, that would certainly explain the lack of good Corette shops in your town!

You've already given some information for the lighting experts to work with, but try to think of anything else you can about when the lights work and when they don't.

Good luck to you!

ok, your low beams go on and off at the same time. there is seperate fuses for all lights so a common place is the low beam relay. low beam relay is #47.

try swapping #47 with another relay the same size, like #45 (windshield wiper) or rear defog #40

welcome saag, I am wondering if your headlights stop working when your car is hot. Once your car cools down, do the headlights work again? If so, others have experienced the same problem and it turns out that it is the fuse box under the hood that is causing the problem. If you do a search on the forum here there are a few threads about this problem.

Good luck
