Default Pics/Description of Torque Wrench and Lug Socket you use to torque wheels on C6?

I need to get a torque wrench and a lug socket for my C6(for reinstalling the wheels after removal)

If you guys will chime in with what you have/use or would recommend, that would be appreciated
Pics are great

I went to Sears and bought a 1/2 drive torque wrench and use the appropriate socket from my Craftsman set. No big deal.

Bert I use a 1/2 torque wrench from sears and a set of the plastic insert wheel sockets from harbor freight tools. They will not scratch your wheels at all. Lug nuts are 19mm

I purchased mine at lowes. Its made by colbalt. There is a slip of paper in box with torque test results. You can open box and see if its a good one before you buy. They allow up to 2lbs off. Mine was .5 lbs off so I'm ok with that. I also got the 250lbs wrench becuase I was concerned about the accuracy of a 100lb wrench at its limit. I have checked my lugs twice and both times have found under torqued lugs.

I also plan to buy one of the special lug sockets with soft interior so they dont damage the finish of the lug. I have found them in mid-america motoworks catalog.

And one more thing....WAR EAGLE!

I use a harbor cheapo torque wrench. Anyone have a link to the plastic lined socket?

I remove my wheels quite often, and developed a pretty quick system. I walk around the car while still on the the ground with a long handle 3/4" drive ratchet to break everything loose. Spin the lugs off/on with a cordless drill, then when back on the ground, another walk around with a basic twist beam 1/2" drive torque wrench. I've had this wrench for years, but still works fine.

I have a Harbor Freight torque wrench and I use regular hardened sockets designed to use the impact gun.

Next time I'm at HF I will look for these. I assume you use a larger socket and the plastic insert reduces it to 19mm?

Bert, I'm sure you know this, but don't use the torque wrench to remove the lugs. Mine claims to be ok to use in reverse, but many are not. Oh and WAR EAGLE on that just to be sure.

Sears 1/2" drive wrench in photo . $70 - $80

While this is a good home wrench . As a rule avoid high & low price wrenches , cheap digital units are worst . All metal is preferred . I like a 6" extension and 6 point socket .its a bit more bite than 12 point . Some folks put a antiseize on the threads if you live in cold wet areas . You should not lube threads that are being torqued or use a lower value .

If you have $400 for a snap on , get one of these . Around 3% accuracy Link It dials across all the scales , newton meters / inch / ft pounds .
They beep and buzz / vibrate for dark / noisy areas . Mine eats batteries ,so just load it when in use .

Picked them up yesterday. They work great. All my lugs were tight now, so I guess they have settled in.

Binford offers their gas-powered torque 'wrestler'.

Slams those lug nuts to 50,000 ft/lbs, and it has a can opener.
