Default Ques on Smog in CA. Some zip codes do not require checks

I was researching on the internet ( I live in Sacramento county) about smog laws because I want headers on my car. After looking around, there are some cities and certain zip codes around here that do not require smog checks. Has anyone ever tried to register their car in a different county or state to keep from having smog checks. Just a thought..
Thanks.

If you have an address there it works.

I have friends with property in Lake County. No routine smog check until you sell.

That said, altering emissions without CARB approved parts can be treated harshly. Are there not CARB approved headers?

I think you may have misread the information as smog check is required by the state irrespective of the city. If not then posting a link to the info might be interesting.

It seems I am wrong:

"Which counties require a smog inspection for the registration renewal?
Counties that Require a Smog Inspection for Vehicle Registration Renewal Alameda Butte Colusa Contra Costa Fresno
Glenn Kern Kings Los Angeles Madera
Marin Merced Monterey Napa Nevada
Orange Sacramento San Benito San Francisco San Joaquin
San Luis Obispo San Mateo Santa Barbara Santa Clara Santa Cruz
Shasta Solano Stanislaus Sutter Tehama
Tulare Ventura Yolo Yuba

There are six counties that require smog certifications within certain Zip Codes only. These counties are:

El Dorado, Placer, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Sonoma.

Follow this link to determine which Zip Codes are included."

Here is the page.

Sorry for the poor formatting.

For those that are interested, here is a link to the map.

As a part-time resident, all of my vehicles are registered in a different Calif. County that has zero smog requirements

If you do not mind me asking which county did you register your cars in that doesn't require smog?

But I thought the problem is when the car is visually inspected. Or does the car not get visually inspected to renew the reg?

My son lives in Mammoth, which is Mono county in the eastern Sierras. No smog check there. I thought he was misinformed but since he registered his Jeep there four years ago, not one smog check has been required.
