Default Dog for passenger...

Im going for a labor day weekend getaway to the beach and id like to take my dog. Hes an 85 lb pit very well behaved but can get kinda antsy in longer rides... i havnt had him in the vette for all the obvious reasons and im wondering if anyone here lets their dogs ride along with them and what they do to protect the car from all the dirt, hair, saliva, teeth, nails etc... and of course to keep the dog safe....

Our Tibretan Terrier is usually in the back hatch area or on my wife's lap. The only issues with her is hair, which can simply be vacuumed, and when she's in the car while we're out somewhere. Then I just cover the center console so that she doesn't scratch it. She's pretty well behaved.

If your dog is riding shotgun in the passenger seat then I'd look for a cheap seat cover.

Yeah hatch will be full between suitcase golf clubs and targa(still surprises me i can put the top in there with the clubs) or id probably take the seat and put it back there... maybe ill break one of my old rules of him never wearing clothes and put a sweater on him to help control the hair... and maybe some benedryl to keep him sleeping in the passenger floor well

I had a nice 69 Corvette Coupe and would take the t-tops off and take my Great Dane for rides. Many dogs love to go for rides. You must cover the seat with something to prevent damage. I would try you dog on a short trip first and see how he reacts. Leave a his window cracked open. They seem to life the flow of fresh air as you drive.

You can buy canine seat covers at Pet Smart or Pet Co. I have a 55 lb English Bull Dog, she used to sit in the front seat but I layed teh cover across the back so she can lay down and sleep.

Towels will work too, just vacuum up the dog hair and maybe have a toy back there to keep him occupied and not stressed out.

Cheap ($20) seat cover for passenger seat. Cover console with piece of material that tucks in on each side between seat and console, and get a small cooler that fits between passenger seat and dash so as to "extend" front seat that distance. My 65 pound Chow just travelled 4000 miles with me like that.

My dog would be way too big to ride in a Corvette but otherwise I'd take a dog with me. As suggested, I'd use towels or furniture pads to protect the seats or rear cargo area as the case may be. If your dog has never been in the Vette I suggest you take him on some shorter trips before the longer trip to the beach. Get him used to the car and see how it goes first. Good luck!

Disable the passenger air-bag.
Thread an old dog collar through the static end of a snap swivel. Dog in harness, snap swivel snapped onto harness, seatbelt through the old dog collar. Have fun

That lab has a big ol grin!

Nice album love the shell station guard dog!

The car wont be anywhere near the sand or water itd be parked at the hotel while dog and boy were cleaned before entering. The dog enjoys car rides and never tore anything up in other vehicles im just a little more clean concious with the vette. i am also curious how he'd take to the beach as hes never been. And he absolutely loves people so hopefully i can find somewhere there arent many people around.

Awesome Chow! I've got a red chow as well, so always happy to see more people that own them

I've never had mine in my Vette, but in our other cars we have a large blanket that covers the entire backseat, floor, and door panels. It made it easy to just have one blanket to take out all of the hair. As others have mentioned, I think it'd be fine if your pup is well-behaved when in the car.

Yes, a cheap seat cover or a blanket. Fur can always be vac'd.

Be careful where you take your pit.. Miami discriminates against Pits big time. This would be my biggest concern.

Have a fun trip....
