Nice! Was this the Sleeping Bear sand dunes? If so, did your car make it up the hill we used to call Old 45°? 
As a kid I spent summers at Camp Leelanau that used to be on the bay around the point from the Sleeping Bear sand dunes (near the Homestead Resort). In the early 1960s they had old 1950's era Buick(?) convertibles with huge balloon tires that gave tourists rides around the dunes. The Glen Lake area is just gorgeous!
Dont' forget, you might want to check/clean your air filter.
