Default Removing the battery for the winter...any thoughts?

I usually have a battery tender hooked up for the winter, but want to store my car this year in a storage unit close to home, so I would have too take the battery out. Is there something I need to do besides re-index the windows in the spring?

Don't store it on a cement floor in the garage, put a board under it.

For full protection the board must be gift-wrapped in green and red paper secured with white ribbon.

Reset the memory stuff. The tire PSI will click after you drive it for ?? ( Depends on the temp)

I guess, I have been storing my cars incorrectly for years. I wash the car, back it into the garage, attach the battery tender, and cover it up. Always stored on bare cement floor and never a problem.

2nd this. Why would parking it on cement be any of a problem? My 78 has been on concrete every winter since 1991 with no problems. And a lot of time it hasn't even been started or moved all winter. ........

He is talking about the battery when you remove it from the car do not store it on a cement floor.

Just disconnect the negative terminal & leave the battery in the car.

..or don't disconnect the negative battery cable, just park the damn thing and start it in in the spring. My battery is still original after 6 years.

Like this idea However, my concern after sitting for 5 months, the battery maybe dead, anybody else try this? I've replaced the battery twice now in my '05

When I store my mom's riding mower for the winter, I take out the battery and put it on her basement floor and hooked up to a tender, otherwise it's dead by spring. A lead-acid battery loses it's charge even if it's not connected to anything. A car battery holds a lot more charge so it should be OK for at least 6 months even if not connected to a tender.

I leave it in the car with the - terminal off when I store the car for the winter. I think the longest I store it has been 4 months. I start it about twice and let it get to full temp in between.

What I do is to open the door, pull the hood latch, leave the door open (so that the window is indexed down) and remove the - terminal. I then set the hood back down but I leave it unlatched. I then shut the door.

Now, if for some reason you have to get back in the car without power, you can put the key in the rear hatch and pull the door release. Since it was indexed down it will not "stick" at the top.

I've done this every year since I bought the car in March of 07 and I still have my original battery. I have under 17K miles on the car as it is not my DD (fine, it is a garage queen, OK??? ha).

When the battery was disconnected on my '91, the OBD1 ECM's "learned data" would clear and have to be relearned. Could take 5-20 or so miles of driving. Does the C6 do anything similar?

I used to do this with a different car up North in years past..six months garaged winter storage with neg. cable disconnected,
and left battery in car. Started right up in the Spring every time.
