Default Most collectable

So now with the end of the C6 coming which models do you suppose will be come the most collectible?
Of course the ZR1 and Z06 models should have good collecability but for the coupe and vert what do you think?
It would seem to me that the 08 because it was the first year of the LS3 would be a desirable model in years to come.
Any other ideas?

I think it's going to be the 2013's because of the low production numbers and their a 60th anniversary car.
I think 2008 had some of the highest production numbers

Maybe GT1, 427 Vert, ZR1? All depends on what's left in the future and what people want in the future. I don't believe sticker, color and embroidery packages will make any of the cars more collectible unless it's something like the '98 Aztec Gold. I think the real value cars are mostly something that nobody wanted when made and then end up fitting a niche in the future.

at the least, a coupe will not be...that's why I drive it instead of garaging it.

And, unless it's a convertible, all other C6s are coupes, including the GS/Z06/ZR1

I actually think as time goes on anything with a 427 will be most collectible. That is only if GM does not put a bigger motor in any of the vettes in the future. But you will probably have to wait 10-20+ years for the numbers of cars still available to drop way down. I have no idea what these cars would be worth, but I believe the 427s will be most desired.

People need to stop thinking these things are collectable and just enjoy driving them.
They are nothing more than depreciating Chevrolets, but that is not a bad thing. That means you can enjoy them, and not worry about a rock chip or nick that may occur from normal driving.

Collectable? The one off Ron Fellows edition given to him in 2011 for his NCM Hall of Fame induction or the most recent Andy Pilgrim 427 unveiled at the National Corvette Museum last week or you might include the Mario Andretti ZR1 he bought in 2008. Other than special cars with significant history, the rest are drivers for now. 20 to 30 years from now when we are all driving government mandated econoboxes, who knows? But then again, who will want them and what will drive the price to collector status, … to many what ifs. Never forget the 1978 Pace Car, they are all still under water and that was 34 years ago!

I don't see any normal production C6 being considered a collectable in my life time. But if any are, the first one I can think of is the 2007 Ron Fellows Edition. As a limited production run of only 399, it has a good chance to be one, plus, you don't see them around, at least in my area. Next would be the 2008 Z44 option 427 Limited Edition with a run of 505 and all signed by Wayne Cooksey. As far as the ZR1 is concerned, I would not put that in the collectable class for some time. They produced almost 17,000 in the first year alone and over 12,000 in 2010.

Even 399 of them will make them very available since most will/are being "saved". Now if the number were less than half that...maybe. Ron Fellows is not well known enough outside the community, IMSP.

Not sure where you got those production numbers from?

Everything I've seen regarding ZR1 production breaks down like this:
2009 - 1,415
2010 - 1,577
2011 - 806
2012 - 404

I'm not saying the ZR1 will be a collector's item - just wanted to clarify your info.

Not saying that it will be a collectors item anytime soon, but even if a lot of people are not aware of who Ron Fellows is although you maybe surprised at the number of ALMS race fans that are well aware of Ron and there are a lot out there, that does not stop a special edition from have a convertibility value down the road. As you stated most people that did purchase one has it put away. Will that do it for making it a collectable. Who knows only time will tell. I was simply stating that if any C6 has the ability to become a collectable these two have a chance.

You are correct. I looked real quick and saw the total number produced for all models for those years. Sorry.
