Default Oil pan drain

Is the oil pan drain plug area recessed? Looking at Fumoto oil drain valves. They ask recessed or not and I have no clue. Thanks

Fumoto Engine Oil Drain Valve F107N and adapter ADP-107.

The company and web site have changed their name to "Quickdrain oil valve.com", but it's still better known as the Fumoto vavle. This gadget is truly the greatest thing since the invention of the pizza. Instead of taking the oil drain plug off, having it spurt oil all over you and your garage, why not have a drain valve that you can open and close? This way you can:

attach a plastic hose to the valve to drain the oil with no spillage at all
open the valve, drain just a little oil out, then close it (useful for when you've over-filled)

If you're ordering for your Vette, you'll need to get:

Part F107N - the valve itself.
Part ADP-107 - the adapter extension. Without this, you won't be able to install the valve on a Vette.

Just my .02 worth but I don't like the drain valves. I replace the factory drain plugs with the magnetic ones. If there is a problem the magnetic tip will show you shavings and the drain won't. You can get them from GMpartshouse. Tip, replace the rubber grommet each time you change the oil. If you have a Z06 or ZR1 replace both drain plugs with the magnetic ones.

I do. Have used them for years in diesels. Sure make it easy to drain oil and never worry about stripped pans, leaking drain plug gaskets and cooked hands draining hot oil.. They make a lock for off roaders so a valve can't be accident opened by debris. Thanks for the advise.
