Default Higher Mileage 06 Corvette questions

Hey everyone, right now i drive a 99 Trans am and im looking to get into a c6 for a DD. I have the opportunity to get an 06 A6 with 86k miles on the clock completely stock. Its a 1LT (i will add HUD and a DD Headunit later on down the road so that doesnt bother me). The price is 19.5K and it seems to be very well taken care of. the only issue i can see are rock chips on the front and the headlights are a little foggy.

My question is how is the reliability on these cars? it will be driven about 18k miles a year (about 80 a day) Since its an 06, it will have been the first year of the A6 transmission. Has anyone had any issues with their high mileage vette? ive searched over and over but havent found much on that high of mileage.

Right now its between the vette and an 09 G8GT with 26k miles for 25k

High mileage Corvettes are relatively rare.......not a big experience pool to draw from. Callaway Chris has 130,000+ on his Callaway with no apparent issues. There was another thread a couple years ago with one over 100,000. But a pretty rare occurrence so far. There's no reason to believe they will be any less reliable than any other GM vehicle.

Edit: Here's Chris' post about hitting 130,000:

wow, yea its been tough to search for it so i figured i would ask. I mean 19.5 is a pretty good price from what ive seen. My 99 T/A has 154k miles and i havent really had issues with it other then a blown water pump, and the transmission feeling like it could break any second (but ive never had an issue with it, you can just feel the age)

135,000 on my 2006. Manual trans. coupe with zero problems. I did have the roof de-lam and diff. fluid change out but they were covered by warranty. It's been flawless other than that.

have you considered a low mileage gto if miles are your concern? Same engine and sicne you are considering a g8 you may want to look at them their prices are pretty low right now.

Maybe we should have a "High Miler" club thread in the Sticky section. The Forum could award the winner (highest mileage) every year a free Premium Membership upgrade.

i have but the mpgs are nothing like the c6's. my friends got a sick 500hp (technically 491 to the rears) but he only gets about 15 on the highway. id rather have 30 with a c6

I've got 95,000 miles on my 07 and it runs great. Previous owner replaced the starter a couple years ago, but that been the only problems with it. I'm about to change out the original plugs and wires too.

have 65,000 runs strong no issues-should have a compression check done before you purchase
