Default Weighed my 11GS at the track yesterday.

My local track just had their scale re-certified, so I can only guess its pretty accurate. My 2LT GS manual trans car with a full tank of gas was 3330lbs. That was without me in it. Pretty heavy for a vette, but I guess normal for the GS. Thoughts?

Well the GS is the second heaviest vette with only the ZR1 being more. The Z06 would be the pig of the bunch if not for that aluminum frame. Kiss the engineers for that one.

The GS weighs 103 lbs. more than the base coupe and 136 lbs. more than the Z06. It is heavy.

One of the reasons the Z06 has the aluminum frame is to compensate for the extra weight of all the extra performance goodies. The GS has many of those same "extras" but the steel frame - thus the weight gain.

Don't forget the carbon fiber fenders, balsa wood/carbon fiber sandwiched floors, and magnesium cradles front and rear.

Pretty sure zr1 has the same frame as the z06, hence the fixed roof on both cars.

So what? If 3330 is considered heavy, then the Ferrari Italia 458, the Lamborghini Gallardo and the mighty Ford GT (there are TONS more) are also pigs as they all weigh more than the Grand Sport.

I weighed my '12 GS 1LT 6Spd coupe at 3260, 1/4 tank gas, & have since pulled @ 15lbs out of it.

Yeah I didn't say that. But in actual fact, no matter what frame the ZR1 had its still the heaviest C6 corvette.

it's all relative... heavy relative to what?

I can say the GS is fast, relative to what?
I can say the GS is cheap, again, relative to what?

and so on and so on....

Might be even a bit bigger disparity. My 1LT coupe weighed in at 3140 stock with a half tank of fuel, 3240 with replica wheels and a blower kit hung on it (just about the same fuel level).

My '08 Z51 2LT with CCW SP500 Wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 Tires (18x10F and 19x11R with 265/35/18F and 305/30/19R tires) weighed in at 3217 when I had it on the corner scales. Had 3/4 of a tank of gas. This was before AR headers though. I don't know how much LT's trim off the car over the factory exhaust, but I'm guessing I'm under 3200lbs now.
