Did I feel the 427 or the Manual 6 speed
Hi all,
I am shopping for a new vette to replace my 09 C6 Convertible with automatic. New to me or NEW is acceptable.
I want to keep with a vert, but I want more power and something that stands out from the crowd a little bit more. I have narrowed the list down to a 2013 427 vert or a Callaway vert with auto.
Saturday I went and test drove a new 427. I was very impressed with how hard the car pulled. Is the power I felt a direct result of the LS7 or due in part to the 6 speed manual? My girl has already laid it out that if I get a stick shift she will not drive it.
If I go with the Callaway I can get the auto and get another 100 horsepower. But does the auto take away some of that visceral feel of power that I felt in the 427? I have not been able to test drive a Callaway, more than likely I will have to just take a leap of faith that this is the car that I want and purchase out of state.
I appreciate any insight anyone has. Probably not going to make my final decision until around Thanksgiving.

Thank you for considering Callaway in your purchase process for your next Corvette
Some of what you felt, is due to differences in the transmission gearing and feel. That said, as you mentioned you haven't test-driven a Callaway SC606, I would be glad to help facilitate your demo drive Shoot me a note / email and let me know.
Close to 1/2 the cars we build are automatics, offering an ultra-high performance Corvette, without having to row the gears. Many of our buyers enjoy not having to shift. Others like the fact they can share the driving experience with their significant others, who can't/won't shift gears.
Again, if I can help with your test drive of a Callaway, please drop me a note.

It's both. You know your own situation but many would feel a wife or girlfriend NOT driving their car to be a good thing. Also, you can't go-wrong with Callaway....they're one of the premier names in Corvette performance with a long-standing and well-deserved International reputation for quality and performance. Callaway truly does it all and they do it well! Chris at Callaway is a great guy....I highly recommend you call and speak with him. Good luck whichever route you go.

Both great choices. The direct experience is the manual transmission.
Of course call away offers both manual and automatics.
I've owned manual and automatic s and that direct connection is why I personally prefer DCT transmissions for the direct drive feel and convenience. That said any PCM tune can make the automatic offer that direct drive feel.
Go to call away and test drive both or that other gentleman in Ga who offered.
If it were me?
I'd get the 427 convertible as it's truly an iconic iteration of the fianl C6.
The call away automatic will accelerate faster and more consistent I'm sure.
Both great choice ..
Not having the woman in your life sharing everything is a good thing.
If she bitches just let her know it's ok and that this convertible is for you.

If she won't drive it, then I have to wait longer before I can get a track toy.

I have a 2006 supercharged with an auto and a 2013 427. The 427 pulls hard. The 2006 is no slouch but from SOP feel, the 427 feels stronger off the line.
