Where is the LS3 made???????????????
I have a friend who says the window sticker on their 2013 Grand Sport says the engine is made in Mexico. When I look at the window sticker for my 2011 it says United States. I thought they were made in Canada.
Who knows the real story on where the LS3 is made?

This is what I thought. Some stickers are obviously wrong including mine. I guess just like the airbag warning stickers for saying children are safer in the back seat. Even my young son said they were stupid when he read that.

The window sticker is simply talking about the engine final assembly, not it's country of origin.
When the engine arrives in BG it still has to be "dressed". There is a considerable amount of work still to be done to the basic motor assembly to get it ready to be assembled to the driveline and assembled to the car.
The block and motor internals are assembled in St. Catharines Ontario and trucked to BG. The motor is hung and sent down an assembly line at the BG plant where the VIN is etched, and he hoses and harnesses, belts, alternator, etc. are assembled to the motor before it is assembled to the torque tube assembly.

Thanks Paul,
The forum is fortunate to have someone with your first hand knowledge on board.

Melting Slicks
Mine says both the engine and the transmission were assembled in the US of A.

According to the GM Powertrain site, all LS3 assembly is either in Ontario or Michigan. Only some truck engines and the LSA are made in Mexico.
But the web site is at least somewhat wrong, because it also states that all LHU production (turbo 2.0L Ecotec) is domestic, but there's a Buick dealer down the street with a Regal GS on the lot that says the engine and transmission are from Germany.

One thing that is possible is that the casting (block) C.O.O. Determines it's "origin". The "assembly" is done in St. Catherine's. I'll see if I can find out for certain.
Also, on the Mexico piece, is it possible that your friend mistook / misread the transmission C.O.O. (Generally Mexico for the Tremec) for the engine in your discussion?

Safety Car
I have a 2013 base coupe, mn6, 3LT, red calipers, cross drilled brake rotors, chrome aluminum wheels, ZR1 rear spoiler.
Ordered in April, Manufactored in May, delivered in June. Car was the 327th one made in 2013.
My window sticker says final assemble point Bowling Green, engine: Mexico, transmission: United States.
Above that it say US/Canadian Parts Content: 70%, Major sources of foreign parts content: Mexico 17%. Funny thing 70+17=87, so that doesn't make 100.
So there is your proof of a sticker with Mexico on it.
