Yes. I occasionally sand mine and trim off the dangling pieces of black plastic. In no way would I ever purchase one of those expensive carbon fiber splitters, as it would be doomed by my driveway. Where do those people live, the salt flats?

It is great that someone decided it was time to video that.
That said, I didn't need the video to show me since I knew a long time ago what is happnin'. It is still embarrassing when I scrape it coming in or out of my driveway and the whole neighborhood looks at me!

We all knew a long time ago what was happining but until now it was heard and never seen. I know the feeling about the neighbors too. I just learned to live with it.
Thanks to all for the good comments.

I have one of those "expensive carbon fiber splitters" on mine. The air dam scrapes leaving my driveway (and lots of other places) but the splitter has never hit.

The salt flats are an easy day's drive from here but I don't live there.

Cool video.

Too cool. It sounds so horrible, but when you see the controlled deflection of the air dam, either baking up or going forward, you can plainly see their is no harm being done, other than a little abrasive wear. A well engineered component, its just a shame it makes such a horrible noise. You have to keep in mind that this air dam see one heck of a lot of pressure at 190 mph, so they couldn't make it too flexible or it wouldn't do it's job.

Come on man! When I made it I was thinking it would at least be 150th.

It was sitting at a solid 150th but some guy just posted 19 different videos of his dog taking a crap (with a go pro attached to his butt) on a Mustang, hence the rapid fall to 169th.

Wonderful video. Really good to see exactly what's happening and why it isn't an issue.

The worst is when you do this around a group of people and they all think you just destroyed the front of your car lol

This would be a great video to show first-time owners who have joined the Corvette Forum! As a new owner last year, I was freaking out and convinced that I was damaging my car. I was considering expensive alterations to my driveway. I eventually learned, thanks to this forum, that bottom scraping is a normal fact of life for this car.

Neat!

Make another video, same car, same driveway, same position, same path etc, but this time do it with the car backed into the driveway.
