Default Questions for those have done wide body conversions

Ive been wanting to do this for a long time. Finally found someone local who is selling and has the complete rear wide body. My questions are

1st did you just paint the panels or did you blend? I don't want to blend or paint any other parts of my car.

2nd for those of you who know about spacers... Did you have any issues using them. I don't want to get gm wheels and give up my vossens.

3rd how many of you eventually ended up doing the front end conversion as well and which kits have you used for the front fenders and bumper?

Thanks
Sal

I did the rear conversion first and used 1.4" wheel adapters for over a year. No problems at all. Just be sure to get good quality billet aluminum adapters that are hub centric.

I later did the front end conversion. I would get my OEM front end conversion package from eithe Kevin @ Partstaxi or Gene @ GMPartshouse. You cannot go wrong with either one. I have found that Kevin usually has parts at slightly better prices than Gene.

Oh, yes, blending or painting just the panel depends completely on how good your painter is at matching the other panels. If he is really good, you can get away with painting just the panel. Otherwise, you will be able to see a difference between the new and the old.

And keep in mind silver is VERY difficult to match, so you may have to blend...

do it. wheel adapters are stronger than most of the vette wheels out there. I had them for 2.5 years , no problems.

There will be no need to blend if your painter is good enough. The only problem with spacers is the smaller tire width on rear.

I've been contemplating the wide body kit as well and have the same concerns regarding blending. I would prefer to paint just the panels but have been told by several reputable places near me that blending is the way to go.

I would never blend. If they can't match the paint, all blending does it try to fool your eyes. You are still going to have two different shades of paint on the car.

For Silver paint, you will be blending. Get your rear wheels widened for much cheaper than a new set. Run 1.75" adapters and run the wider Z06 rear rubber.

Just had mine done last month. I have DSOM so they couldn't match it so I had the whole car repainted at the same time. cost was about 6k. Running 1 5/8 spacers now but could go with the 1.75 that another posted about.
