Anyone gone back to a C5?
Hi All
I've been thinking about trading my 03 vert for a C6 vert. I'm very happy with the C5, I'm just thinking of getting a newer car, that's all. But I'm curious if the C6 is all that much better of a car. Has anyone gone back to a C5 after owning a c6?
Thanks
Beary

The C5 is an excellent car, the C6 is better in some ways but not all IMO. I've had multiple C5s and multiple C6s. The C5 was a giant leap over the generations before it, the C6 is an incremental change over the C5. There are features available on the C6 that were not available on the C5, and whether you like the styling of one versus the other is purely a matter of personal preference. I like both.

I have both, plus a C3. No way in hell I would go to a C5 if I had a C6. I love driving my C5 FRC but there are so many refinements to the C6, there is just no comparison. If you like the styling, you won't be sorry after upgrading. Good luck in what ever you do.

We traded our 2001 Coupe for a 2006 Coupe, and I wasn't very impressed. Sure, the 2006 looked better to me, it had Nav, and the somewhat clunky paddle shift. But it was also slightly smaller, the steering seemed rather vague, and it didn't feel any faster (though it was).
We later traded the 2006 for a 2009. It looks identical to the 2006 and didn't get any roomier. But the steering is both lighter and more precise, the paddle shifter blips for downshifts, and it feels a lot quicker. Bluetooth.
So for me, a C5 to a 2006 was barely worth while. A C5 to a 2008 or later is a huge improvement.
Other people might feel differently.

I had a 2001 for almost 7 years. I was a regular on the C5 forum and read all the post about never selling or trading the C5 for a C6. Well I knew that one day I would and I am glad I did. No I would not go back to a C5, not even a C5 Z06.

I went from an 02 to an 07 coupe (narrow body) and it felt newer... that was about it. The speed and power did not feel any better. I thought the paddle shift was a blast but that was all that really set them apart.
I got rid of the 07 for a 12 GS centennial edition and that was a significant difference. The wide body for conering/looks and the LS3 power (feel) over the previous cars is tremendous to say the least.
With the 07 I would have gone back to a C5 had a found a great deal. With the 12 I am taking it to the next life with me...

Had a 2000 vert that was modded a lot and I LOVED that car! Now that it's gone and I have the '11 GS, there is no way I would willingly go back!! That being said, I still think a C5 FRC/Z06 is one of the meanest-looking vettes ever made, especially it they have 19's and a Caravaggio spoiler on the back, like Jetz!! Probably the best-looking C5 out there!!!

I kept my '00 vert when I bought my new '08 coupe. I now have a "like new" 2000 convertible sitting in the garage while I use my '08 all the time. 91 more horses, NPP, etc. It seems there in no going back. Do I still love my 2000? Sure, it is my first Corvette and it is very special. I just don't drive it anymore. Go figure.

I went from a 01 Z06 and now have a 12 Base Coupe. Hoenstly I see very little difference in how they drive or handle. I think the C5 Z06 looked better but that is subjective. The C5 seemed to have more room inside.
I guess if I had gone from a C5 Z06 to a C6 Z06 I would have seen a huge difference.
I sold the C5 because it had racked up 130k miles and as a daily driver I was afraid big ticket repairs would be coming. I like the C6 so far but just dont see the change as a dramatic difference.

The C6 is so much quieter regarding road noise. The indexing windows seal up great. I get a lot of road noise in my C5 FRC. I especially notice it when I run HPDE events where I have to remove my cargo divider that absorbs some of that road noise. Not to mention the creature comforts of heated seats, NAV, OnStar, Bluetooth, etc. I agree the C5 is a little bigger therefore more room in the cockpit but in my case it means nothing to me. They are both great cars.

I had a 03 with 54K that I traded when my 13 came in. I will never go back. There are too many refinements. The LS3 pulls so much harder than the LS1. I even stuck with the she color, torch red, the 03 had light oak interior and the 13 has cashmere interior, both are 6 sp manual.

We kept our C5 when we bought our 12 GS. Still like the C5 but the C6 is a definite improvement. Do feel like the C5 has more room and I personally like the seats better but would not go back to a C5 from a C6.
