Trade in : 28500.00

Trade is my 2007 Corvette coupe with 3LT package and every option offered in 2007. It has 7800 miles, one owner, never wrecked, excellent condition.

So, do I pull the trigger?
Sounds like a great deal considering someone just paid $700,000 for one at Barret-Jackson auction in Scottsdale. It's a super cool Corvette. I say "Go for it"!!

I got $26 for my 02 Z and the price of my 13 wasn't much less than the one you're looking at. I'd hold out for a bit more on yours. At least $30. JMO.

Not sure how it works in OK, but in CT, we don't pay sales tax on the trade-in. So, here, your $28500 would actually turn out to be $30,495. Keep that it mind.

You asked.
Agreed.

Thats a $50,000 difference for essentially the same car, with a bigger engine and a convertible top. The 427 is nice, but not that nice.

Hell you could take the $50,000 and buy the new C7 and keep the '07.

Quick update, cost of the car went up $750 because I do not have USAA insurance but that is not a deal breaker. All other incentives including Corvette loyalty have been applied. All other numbers have stayed the same.

I have to make a decision by tomorrow evening, so keep the opinions coming. Thanks to all those that have responded.

And are some people thinking OP might:

- get a better number for his car,
- selling into the winter months for many places in the country
- on the eve of C7 coming out for display in less than 6 weeks,
- in a not-so-good economy?

Or maybe, some are thinking he'll get a little/lot better deal off the new car?

I think it is a real good deal to be honest. Sure it is $50k more but is also 6 years younger.

I wouldn't worry about the C7 if you like this car. Its looks are up in the air right now and they probably won't go for less than MSRP so that is already a 10% increase over most C6s. Heck when someone is told that it'll cost about $70k to get a decent optioned C7 they might see the Z06/427 as a great deal.

I think the price on the 427 'vert before the trade is quite good, but not sure about the ACV of the trade.
Ask the dealer to confirm the price without a trade. If it goes up then you're getting even less for the trade
than it appears... G-L !

Nope, price is the same on the 427 regardless of trade or not. I am trying to push to $30K for the trade and then I will do the deal. I have seen quotes from $20-$37K on the internet for a car like mine. I think $30K is a fair number. I have not found a better deal on a 427 here or anywhere else, close, but not quite.

I really appreciate everyone's input, I have to make a decision by tomorrow night. Keep em coming.

Since the dealer is making next to nothing on selling the 427 at the deep discount, where he has given up all the incentive money plus his hold back, his only chance to make some profit is when he resells your car. So he's taking the risk of when that will happen, how long that will take, and what he can actually get for your car. With 28,500 as his offer your car and your looking for 30K that is only $1,500 difference and I wouldn't lose the deal on the 427 over that. He's got to make money somewhere to stay in business. So unless you want to sell your car outright and then look for a 427, I think the deal you've got on the table is a very good and very realistic deal.

For what it's worth I traded an 09 C63 in for my 427 and felt the discount on the Vette made up for what I thought was a low trade allowance, even after coming up 3 grand from their initial offer. However my car still sits on their lot since August and they set the price only 4 grand higher than my trade allowance. Being biased I thought it would sell within a week but there it sits.

Good price on the 427........ Black Book wholesale extra clean on your car is 27,950.00 add 500 for chrome wheels and add 250 for nav so I think the dealer is close. Yes, he will sell it for more but that's the game. Sounds like you have a nice car so he knows he can move it. I would also do as others have said and check with one of our vendors for a better deal if they can do one.

IMO, this is also good advice if you have found the exact car you want...

Thank you everyone for your input. Signed the papers tonight and will pick it up tomorrow. I test drove it today and that was all it took. I don't like to test drive until I know the numbers will work for me, it takes some of the emotion out of it that way. In a nutshell, it worked out to my car and $49K, minus $3K in GM redemption money, so my car and $46K out the door. Tag and tax was included in that, so no money out of pocket.

I am very pleased with the deal, and a very, very happy owner of a new 427.

Thanks again to all.

Same thing I was going to say. With the tax credit from the trade, you are right in line with where you should be. Pull the trigger.
