Hello Denny, No I may never figure out the NPP dual mode exhaust, the VIN info stated it was made with the NPP package, but the car has the standard exhaust system, not the NPP. Only thing I can figure is that perhaps the VIN info is in error, or the previous owner replaced it, but I cannot figure out why someone would do that. I do want the NPP exhaust, probably a future project, if it is possible. Thanks again Denny for all of the help.

Maybe-You-Already-Know: Have you looked at the sticker in the glovebox? It will tell you if your car was factory-equipped with the NPP dual mode exhaust.
The VIN number does not include that info: Corvette VIN decoder
Also, you can get a copy of the original window sticker (Monroney label) from the National Corvette Museum.
It's important to know for sure, because I believe it'll be easier to retrofit the NPP hardware if the car was originally factory-equipped with the NPP option.

Congrats. I have a 2009 JSB Coupe. I have about 14,000 miles on it. I bought it new. The only problem I have had was the clear top squeeking. I took it to the dealer and they greased the top and the problem is gone.

Are you sure? Maybe you should test it with a heavy right foot... when you're past 3500 rpm, you'll know for sure.

Last Wednesday I found a 2009 Crystal Red Tintcoat Corvette in Dallas. Traded in my 2002 Light Pewter Metallic Corvette. I got a long
first drive home, 250 miles back to Houston and it was a really nice ride!
The car has a lot of options, 25K miles, it is a 4LT, Z51 package, chrome wheels, both the clear and painted tops, heads up display, factory spoiler, etc. So far I am really enjoying the car, and I am still learning about all the features. I really want to thank you guys for help and answering my questions about C6's, and I want to give a very special Thank You to forum member FLHDEN, we sent a few emails back and forth and he really helped me out in too many ways to mention, Denny, I owe you big time, very much appreciated!

CO Lightfoot, I appreciate the info on obtaining a build sheet and window sticker, I will order both asap. The glovebox sticker does have the NPP code, as does the info that Denny provided me from the VIN info site he used. I am positive it does not have the NPP dual mode exhaust. I was also thinking that it might be easier to retrofit to the NPP IF the factory harware is still there, minus the two mufflers. I belive that there should be one or two vacuum hoses that run from somewhere in the engine compartment, I am not really sure how to tell if the NPP hardware is still there or not. Here is a pic of the passenger side exhaust tips..

Quick update, I found out that I still had all of the hardware for the
NPP dual mode exhaust still on the car & Corvettes of Houston had a
slightly used set of factory NPP exhaust & they installed it today, I was very pleased with the service from Corvettes Of Houston. Oh, and a few days ago I removed the corvette emblem that was hanging between the exhaust, I like it much better now. Now I just need to get a mild to wild switch! (Sorry for the crooked quick phone pic)

In the meantime, have you pulled the EXH MDL fuse?
It won't hurt a thing to give it a try, see how it sounds.
The fuse is in the passenger footwell. For details, see pg 5-104 in the owners manual: http://www.gmpartshouse.com/download...09corvette.pdf
BTW, glad it was an easy install. And I agree, it looks better (cleaner) without the plate.

Thanks Denny, I really appreciate it, and thanks for putting up with all of my e-mails!
Co Lightfoot, Yes, I did pull the fuse earlier and go for a quick ride, very noticable difference in sound, just had to check it out. Appreciate the link to the 09 owners manual, you guys are really a lot of help.
I lost count on how many times we have vacationed in Colorado, Estes Park, RMNP, Durango, etc. Beautiful mountain roads, hard to get used to seeing Elk camped in people's yards, grocery store parking lots, We just don't see that sort of thing in Southeast Texas! Here is a picture we took in RMNP near Estes Park.

The empty field behind my house sometimes gets visitors... from July09:
They seem peaceful enough while grazing. But these are big & very strong animals... I give 'em a wide berth. About 30 feet away, I was still nervous taking pictures.
And I never get used to seeing 'em.
