C6 of Year Finalist (performance mods) 2019
My '08 F55 Coupe got 34K on the OEM GY. They dead hooked at the drags for the first 25K, then faded as they got harder. I switched to Invos which didn't hook as well, since I added power at the same time. Then I bought MT exclusively for the track. The first set of Invos lasted for 33K and the second set is at 28K now, with about 2K before I plan on replacing with something else.
Just my experiences.

My local dealer has replaced tires on three different GS's in my Corvette club. First car a 11 GS conv 3,200 miles both fronts down to 3/32 GM replaced them for free. Second car 10 GS coupe 5,400 miles all four tires 2/32 GM replaced all for free. Third car 10 GS conv 4,100 miles fronts 3/32 GM replaced for free.
I have worked for the last 30 years at a used Corvette dealership and can tell you Goodyears starting with the Eagle GT's used on the 78-82's The VR's 84-87's ZR's 88-91, GSC's 92-96, F1's 97-04 and the C6's pure junk. Each style had problems.
I talked to Tadge at Corvettes@Carlisle and said don't used Goodyears on the C7. He said why? I said you guys know they have problem but won't fess up to it. His response was we invite all tires companies to a tire shoot out and pick what works the best. He also said if the car magazines give the car a bad review because of the tires would you still buy a Corvette. My response was those magazines hate Corvettes because the car is better than any of the imports at 1/2 the cost.

One's only recourse is to vote with their wallet. Many of us have as we refuse to be milked by GY. NOT talking about GY's passenger car or truck tires, they're a different animal altogether.
In all fairness & as a few others have already pointed out the GY compound's soft for superior traction. Problem is the stickiness lasts no more than 5K. Afterwards the compound gets hard as hell while rapidly wearing regardless driving style. Whether or not the condition's due to Chevrolet and/or GY misses the point, IMO. Unless ytour last name's Rousch, Childress or Henerick.
Have replaced every set of GY HP tires on my past & present Corvettes with Bridgestones since '96. For me replacing HP GY tires is a no brainer when they quickly wear out, replace with anything except GY. Period.
Member above states all C7s will have Michelins.
Only comment I have hearing this has to be: What took GM so long.

Just remember GM doesn't warranty things because of the way people drive.
I will be remembering that when it comes time to get another vehicle

Have you seen the wear expectations on the new Michelin Sport Cup tires? I think I read you're lucky to get 3000 miles. They're a street legal, track tire and are offered (from the factory) on the Z06 and ZR1. The GY sc's are a compromise of street and track combination. Most folks don't realize this when they buy the Corvette, becoming extremely dissapointed in the long term performance of the tires. There are a gazillion posts reflecting this complaint.
Tires are a major expense on a Corvette compared to other items of wear and tear.
I'm still awaiting availability of the BFGoodrich g-Force Comp 2, which TireRack keeps moving the availability date on...

To the OP:
I have an appointment with a GM dealer to look at my GY runflats that are worn badly in the middle. 2011 GS, 8,000 miles. Any advice?
Also had the GY on a 2003 Z06 and got 28,000 miles out of them. 2008 coupe got only 11,000 miles.

Deb I just changed my original Gy wranglers, on my 07 gmc van with almost 60000 miles on them and they still had 3 to 4/32 on them. It can be done, but what is the tradeoff. If they don't pro rate a new set at least let them know you will never buy GY's again and there are 80000 members on the Corvette forum and I will tell everyone of them how crappy they are. A new set must be over 2 grand on a ZR1, so that means 2000 every year for new tires. WOW!!!!

Folks, you need to specify if you're talking about F1s or F1 G:2s, since both are used on GSs.
You're probably experiencing the other issue: bad alignment. What eat tires is aggressive driving, bad/aggressive alignment, or a combination of the two. But what also wears tires faster than normal is abrasive road surfaces and high speeds, so comparing tire wear with other forum members is not an apples-to-apples comparison. But if you're only getting 3K out of a set of tires, especially the longer-lasting F1s, there's obviously something wrong with the alignment.
Finally, I don't expect to get more than 10K out of my G:2s, but will definitely try the Michelin PSS next. Mainly because they reportedly are much quieter, but also should last a lot longer, with same or better performance. And they're way better in the rain too, simply because the G:2s only have half the treads. That's also why they're so freaking noisy. Have a good one folks.

OEM good year F1 1st gen
The tires that I had replaced at 3000 miles by the dealer were the stock Goodyear F1 super-car tire generation one. All straight tread. The dealer did change the aliment. That solved the front tire issue as the fronts still look good. But just 3000 miles later the rear are worn completely bald (except the outer edge).
I'm going with the Michelin Super sport. I will report on the wear issue with them.

update on my tire warranty problem:
Well it has been 3 weeks since I brought my car into a GM dealership to look at my tires which are worn after 8,000 miles.
To summarize (I don't have the time to tell you about all the ridiculous BS that has come out of the dealership as well as GM)
- GM rep said sorry not covered.
- I escalated to GM Customer Assistance ( per the owner's manual). Numerous calls documents etc. I have a case number, back and forth etc. I have threatened to file a lawsuit. The latest was that someone from the district office is to call me in 24 hours.
So far an incredible run around. I have a feeling that the same person who originally said "NO" is just going to say "NO" again.
Bottom line even the dealer said that GM is being unreasonable. There is no information to suggest that the premature wear is anything but premature wear and should be covered per the GM's OEM bumper to bumper warranty.
I have the paperwork ready to file a lawsuit in small claims court.
