Default What should I pay

My wife and I have been in the market for 2008, auto, coupe, 1LT is fine. I've come across a car that a dealer has had for a few months now. It has 16000 miles and they are asking 32500. I'm thinking 30k out the door with an extended warranty, tax, and tags is a fair price. Thoughts?

$30,000 is a little low, at least in my area of the country. So the price that is being asked is not that bad, but I would try for the $30,000, after all most they can say is NO.

Tough to weigh in without some more details. Can you post a link to the car?
  1. This is a 2008 coupe?
  2. Condition of car?
  3. Clean history?
  4. 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, 4LT?
  5. NPP, chrome wheels, 2 tops?
  6. Is it going to need tires soon?
  7. How much is sales tax in your area?
  8. Are you getting a GMPP extended warranty or third-party warranty?

I would not pay 30 k for a 08 1LT when you can probably find a new left over 12 for under 40k.

Doubt a dealer will throw in an extended warranty. Would deny 'em the chance to work the customer over in their finance department -- whose task it is to get them to pay for one.

I would definitely not be in a hurry to buy a used base model C6 right now unless it was a killer deal on a perfect car with the exact color and options you want. There will no doubt be some smokin' deals on new 1LTs out there...like this deal.

I am not saying they won't sell for 35k, but their math to get there is way off!

30k out the door icluding tax, tags and extended warranty would be a great deal but I doubt it can be had. Perhaps their asking price out the door with extended warranty, etc. might do it and is fair.

Why? Because it doesnt have crappy navigation, junk BOSE or $650 heads up display? lol

Also, why pay for upgraded wheels when you will just replace them anyway, right?

Personally, I'd say this is a good deal with such few miles. When all is said and done, its the mileage that commands price in the Corvette world. See if it shows up on Carguru's website in your area.

Deals like that sound great and all but you are counting on getting all the rebates. Chances are most people arent going to get the $3k discount for already owning a corvette.

Did everyone forget the OP said OUT THE DOOR? So working backwards, here's how that offer breaks down...
Price of car.............$26,800
7% Sales Tax.............$1,820
GMPP Warranty...........$1,200 (Dennis Fichtner discount price)
License/Fees................$180

Out The Door...........$30,000
So what you are really saying is you want to offer $26,800 for this car...which has to be at/below wholesale for it. I think they are going to send you packing!

18 months ago I sold my low-mileage 1LT 2009 coupe to CarMax for $36,000...and they sold it for $39,000 2 months later.

That's a legit point, but even without the owner loyalty discount, he could still have purchased one of those at Les Stanford for $38,000! I would rather do that than pay low 30s for a used '08. The cheapest 2013 1LTs are about $42K right now at Kerbeck.

The whole "OTD" pricing people on here throw around is silly. Its simply not how deals are done. You negotiate the price of the car and tax, tittle and license are on top of that. I think he would be lucky to get the car before TT&L for $30k

You can most certainly negotiate an OTD price on any car.

B/c 3LT cars can be had for the same money. That's why. Has nothing to do with what one person or another may think of the quality of said options.
