C5 axle shaft in C6: AT vs. MT
Have an 07 A6 with a snapped axle shaft. Been reading posts that recommend going with a C5 replacement as they are stronger. And half the price is an added benefit.
My question is that the C5 listings show one part # for either transmission but the C6 listings show different part numbers for A6 and M6. What is the difference in the C6 shafts? The spline count and length for the C5 matches mine.
Anybody know if the C5 shaft will fit in a C6 Automatic before I order it?

The C5Z06 shafts fit C6Z06. Early on in C6Z the shafts were snapping on drag strips and guys were using/replacing w/C5Z shafts. But, as someone stated above, email that shop and ask them about auto tranny Vettes. I do not know that answer.
When you find out, post the answer please. I would like to know as well.

Well I got the half shaft in.
T.J. at RPM replied to my email and said the C5 shaft will fit both MT and AT C6s. He was correct as it worked just fine.
FYI...If anyone else is a bargain shopper and willing to go with a Chinese half shaft, then you probably can't beat Advance Auto. New ones with lifetime warranty are $69 each. I ordered 2 because I had a $50 off $125 or more purchase promo code and they have free shipping on orders over $75. So I got 2 new shafts for $89 + tax shipped to my door.
