Not sure I'd call the MN6/Z51 a close ratio tranny... take a look at "C6 speeds in gears": http://mysite.verizon.net/foofoo2/c6/
MN6/Z51:
-- gears 1, 2 & 3 are shorter (bigger numerically)
-- 4th gear is the same
-- 5th gear is taller
-- 6th gear is shorter

Z51 is a package up until 09. Z16 is the GS code, Z16 always has Z51. Z52 is the "extra" performance option package on the GS Coupe Manuals. FE3 is the Z51/GS suspension. FE1-FE5 are suspension codes on all GM cars.
