Default Light pink/orange fluid, no leak seen

Well, unfortunately for me, I was injured during the arrest of a very violent, fine "consumer of services" almost 2 months ago. Had knee surgery late November. I haven't driven my 2005 Coupe for now almost 2 months, since "Vettes in Vets" at the BG Parade.
I had it up on a lift during an oil change, and no one could see any leak, but now I have a puddle that runs to the rear of the car, where I actually got a syringe and drew it up into a jar.
It's a light pink/orange in the jar, spotlessly clean, no dirt in it, not particularly oily. And apparently, with me laid up on crutches and not starting the beast for almost 4-5 weeks, the battery died.

Ahh....not feeling the love today. Any ideas on where the fluid is coming from and what it is? The battery is only 2 years old.

Help.

By the color you describe it sounds like coolant.
The battery can probably be brought back to life with a good charge.

possible transmission or rear differential fluid, (both reddish) or coolant (Dexcool is orangeish in color)...

sorry to hear about your injury; hope you're recovering as planned.

Sounds like a coolant leak, check gaskets and hose clamps for signs of wetness.

What you describe is likely coolant. If the hose clamps, etc are all tight, then I would suspect the water pump. Mine started leaking at the seal at 30K. Would not leak all the time, but started seeing wetness in the belts and the pulleys. I did a 24 hr pressure test before I actually saw coolant coming from the weep hole.

Good Luck

Drive it and see if it stops leaking. Just sitting can shrink areas, while regular heat/cold cycles keep them expanded.
Keep a close eye on the coolant temps and level.

I hope you can get a new battery under warrantee; I just don't trust "charged" batteries.

Me too. And non-use (aka a cold tool) causes it.

Sounds like you have a water pump seal going out, the coolant is the color you described but it wont leak all the time. There is a "weep" hole on the underside of the water pump. They usually dont leak while under pressure but when the car sits and the cooling system depressurizes the seal begins to leak. Replace the water pump and all should be fine.

As for the battery, you need a charge on it then keep the battery tender on it.
