Default drilled rotors questions , please advise

i'm in the marked for a used c6, some option packages are easier to spot on the ad pictures than relying on the descriptions.
i. e. z51 and f55 can be noticed (pending glove box sticker confirmation) by the drilled rotors w some exceptions, f55 in 06 did not have them.

now after the introduction of the grand sport i believe the z51 pack on the "base" went away.

i assume f55 was still available and still came w drilled rotors, correct?

i belive there was/is the option of "just" drilled rotors, now would that be only a different set of rotors or also diff brackets, etc?
in other words, on later years could drilled oem rotors be added at any time as a direct replacement if they were not on from the factory? sources, part #'s, prices?

any info, advise is greatly appreciated that helps me to determine what i'm looking at and decide.

The J55 drilled brake rotors can be used on any C6 except possibly the ZR1, if you use the correct corresponding bracket and caliper. Swapping between base and J55 only requires the rotor and bracket, as the calipers are the same except for the rear piston size.

Correct answer! Ditto for Z51 brakes.

The J55 brakes ARE the brakes that came with the Z51 option pkg.

J55 is a $500 option. You can buy a base brake car and do the upgrade yourself for about the same cost, for parts anyway. Just as an example check the brake kits offered by vendor partstaxi.com here (specifically the z51brakekit):

J55 is the RPO brake designation for both the F55 and Z51 option. JL9 is the standard (base) brake, J56 is the Z06/GS brake, J57 is the ZR1 brake. There are other RPO codes for different color calipers.

Even though the ordering guides don't list the J55 brake as an option, the production figures for 2005-2008 show more produced than would have been used on all the Z51 and F55 optioned cars combined. I assume dealers had the ability to special order the HD brakes, but it wasn't public knowledge.
