Default 2005 Battery replacement

I know this must of been brought up, but don't remember it.
I have this item you plug into cigarette lighter to hold all the memories so you don't loose setting when replacing battery, does it work on C6.
Has anybody used this with success or I'm wasting my time.

I think the only thing you will lose is the window indexing. I didn't use anything on my 05.

If you got it, why not use it? I would not go out and buy one though. As stated only window index needed.

I use one of those every time I remove battery power from any car. My wife really gets annoyed when her radio pre-sets and clock time disappear.

Here is a set of basic instructions if you aren't sure how to use it. You can buy these things on Amazon for under $10. It's just a good practice to follow...especially if you wrench on other people's cars. Just make sure the lighter socket you are using has power even when the car is off (I'm not sure how the socket works on a C6).

The picture is the one I had for years, then I started buying cars with no cigarette lighter, so was toss in draw till now.

Replaced the battery in my '05 last year without doing anything special & did not lose any settings, including the window indexing. Just get the new battery connected without too much delay.....took me less than 5 minutes.

I had my battery out for about 24 hours. Took the old one when I picked up the new one and trickle charged it overnight before putting it in. Never lost anything including the oil life indicator, radio presets, trip millage or anything.

It takes about 10 seconds to index the windows.

Actually I am not sure what type of battery I have in my 2007 Corvette Coupe but when I had a 2003 Corvette Convertible the water in the battery boiled out because the battery tender must have overcharged over the Winter so I replaced the water with distilled water used in steam irons and put it on a short charge and it came back to life.
It surprised me that the battery wasn't totally sealed and I could replace water in it just like I did on some of my old 60's cars

For your 2005 C6, make sure you get:
-- the right size battery and
-- the correct post orientation

2005, 2008 and 2009 use the same-size battery tray. 2006 and 2007 models use a different tray.

2005 use batteries with the positive post on passenger side of the battery. 2006-2009 cars use batteries with the positive post on the driver side of the battery (also called "reverse" post).

Wouldn't a battery tender with a lighter attachment do the same thing?

Interesting.

Very easy to test it -- if I still had a C6.

For those that claimed disconnecting battery and not loosing anything - certainly, you guys are the lucky one with the magic Corvette from GM! Probably you also have one of those freak built engine that has more power than the rest of us mortals.

I am one of the unlucky few that suffer loosing window indexing and current time set with my radio - every time - no matter how fast I made the disconnect/reconnect - I get it - my car never came with one of those invisible permanent battery connection.

So, in panic, I did these in hope of making up by not having one of those invisible connection:-

So full of these unsubstantiated wild claims on the Forum.

Another good laught for the day!!!
