I had them in my previous car and took them out immediately. Not even close to being enough light to be seen in the day time and I had clear lenses on that car too.

For the tail lights, if you want a LED "bulb" to replace the OEM, check out the V-Star from V-LED's.
As with any LED turn signal, you have to include load resistors to eliminate the hyper-flashing.

MT- You're absolutely right, this mod isn't for everyone.
But IMHO it's worth the effort because the LED's are much brighter, they are virtually indestructible, and at freeway speeds, they come on so fast that following drivers will have more time to react (there's an equation somewhere that quantifies the actual distances, and it's significant).
Load resistors are kinda like normal light bulbs but they don't light up, they just generate heat.
None of this adversely affects reliability and based on the large number of positive posts about the Eagle Eyes tail lights, it seems like a good upgrade.
Of course YMMV.

I also want to add LED bulbs for the taillights and for the front turn-signal/DRLs. But I don't want any resistors, and certainly don't want to change the taillights; I like them.
I recently started a thread over the tech section, but nobody replied. Found 3157 bulbs (what we need) that are CANbus compatible, but they don't guarantee to stop hyperflashing. They cost $20 a pop, so too expensive to experiment with. Found them at superbrightleds, but can't link them or the gestapo would come after me . Just search for '3157 CANbus LEDs' and there's just one such bulb. And it's rated as some of the brightest, with 360º visibility, so it should be at least equal to the stock incandescent bulbs. And it's offered in white, amber, and red. If you feel like experimenting OP, do it for the gang and report back to us .

There's one screw at the top of the lens that you have to remove ... that's all. Then take the complete light out and change the bulb. I think it's a Torx 15 screw.
I just took mine out a couple of days ago to clean some of the gunk off the bottom. It's about the easiest thing you can change on a Vette.

Just my opinion, but I replaced my tail light and front driving lights with LED's. I tried some of the cheaper ones, but ended up spending the money and buying CREE LED's. They are well worth the extra money. Unfortunately I got rid of my '05 and just got a '12 Grand Sport. I have just placed another order for all exterior CREE LED's once again. They're a bit more pricey than a lot of the bulbs out there, but I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Of course, you will have to add the resistors for any bulb that blinks to stop the "hyper flash". I think Radio Flyer is a sponsor here on the forum...that's where I got my bulbs. They are very good to deal with, they were for me anyway...Good Luck, you will love the end result.
Again, just my opinion...Just replacing the bulbs with a good quality one, looks better that replacing the whole light fixture. The stock C6 tail light is a beautiful thing. Replacing the the complete light fixture changes the tail light look completely. Of course, this is a preference only, obviously there are people that prefer the "eagle eye" look as well. It's up to you...

Also a little trick if you keep burning out your front turn signal bulbs/they will not work even when the bulbs are still good. On the left hand side in the socket (wires straight up out of the top), use a pick tool and bend the small tab outwards on the socket so they makes clean contact to the wire on the bulb's tumbstone.
Look at this socket in the middle photor, and notice that the two small side prongs on the right hand side that need to connect to the bulbs tombstone wires (socket upside down that you will be looking at it on the car), and see that they are recessed back and will not make a strong contact to the bulb tombstone connector wires.
Just use a pick tool to bend them back outwards toward the center of the tombstone channel, then use Dielectric grease in the sockets to keep the connectors clean and diffuse the heat of the bulb.
