Default What are your thoughts on the Callaway Corvettes???

Just trying to receive some feedback regarding Callaway Corvettes. A local dealer has several of them and are trying to unload them. Just not sure on going the Callaway Corvette route.

Callaway knows how to build a Chevy Corvette motor. A friend of mine has a Z06 Callaway and it is a beast, putting out more HP then the ZR1.

Criswell's in Md. sells them and I was considering buying one when I was shopping. It was between the Calloway and the one I bought. Two reasons I didn't buy the Calloway.............1. when I wanted to test drive it the battery was totally dead (not the car's fault), and 2. I would have to drive to Maryland to get it serviced because nobody where I live knows how to work on cars like that. So that played a big part in my decision.
I'm real happy with what I have, but if somebody GAVE me a Calloway........I wouldn't turn it down!

I have a Centennial vert 6 spd GS. It has hands down the best vehicle I have ever owned. I spent at least 2 hours today with a wandering mind of when I can finally drive it again. I live in burbs of Chicago and mine has been resting peacefully for quite awhile now. I met the founder at Bloomington Gold in St Charles and he signed one of my covers for me. He was an absolutely great guy. I have no regrets whatsoever with my purchase. In fact, down the road, I'm guessing I will be in another one, only next time in a C 7. They are true professionals with tried and true results. Go for it, you won't be disappointed.

If you're going new, and want more power, I can't think of a reason not to buy a Callaway.

I thought my C6 ZO6 was insanely fast. Then I drove a friends Callaway GS and My one and only hesitation about supercharging is that the C6 performs really well stock. Adding more horsepower via a supercharger can then make the car dangerously fast by breaking the rear wheels free at high speeds. Especially in cooler weather. Several times I've considered picking up the phone and shipping my vette to Lingenfelter. But everytime, I chicken out. I love intense acceleration but I don't want to die getting it. Remember this one

I know things happen in a hurry when you have excess of 600 hp. BUT, Stupid as Stupid does. There is a time and place to exhibit that horsepower and on the Street is not it. I am sure most people LEARN how to handle that kind of power and know what to expect and how to react to it. If I had the wherewithall to get a Calloway....you would see a Vapor Trail to the nearest dealer.

In over 145,000 miles on our 2010 Callaway SC606 Corvette Grand Sport, I have never had issues of control. This is a car driven in all sorts of conditions - rain, snow, ice, and even a few sunny days. We do not change the factory traction control and active handling, which make the car nearly a 4 season vehicle.

If we can help put you into a test drive of your own, please drop me a note - Thanks!

I am curious as to where you live, as to why there are no Chevy dealers qualified to work on the Callaway. Please drop me a note, as I an genuinely curious.

Thanks, Chris

We just shipped your dealer a GORGEOUS 2013 Callaway SC606 in Night Race Blue. It is quite possibly my favorite one we've built this year.

You are right though, that dealer has some great deals right now, as they rotate some of their inventory...

They are nice if you don't want to get your hands dirty... But you can build better far cheaper

Show me where you can build cheaper and still maintain the factory warranty?

Awesome machines in every regard. Way back in the '80s the original Calloway C4s demonstrated to all the exotic car makers that there was, indeed, a Corvette to contend with!

I own a Callaway GS. Great car. It's not quite as fast as my ZR, but it's faster/quicker than my Z-06 was when it was stock.

In fact, I've been quite impressed with the performance of the Callaway.

All with stock-like driveability, great looks, great sound and a warranty that overlays the GM warranty so jumping in the car and firing it up is a completely no-worry affair (the well-earned rep of the cars as being bullet-proof reliable doesn't hurt either).

When you go look at them, keep in mind they have two different hoods available - the C16 hood which I have and prefer, and the hood with the carbon fiber center bulge, which has a noticeably larger center bulge. I've found folks fall into one camp or the other on the hood styles.

Good luck - and go get one. The Callaways are excellent vettes.
