Default Need help choosing new rotors

My 2005 C6 has some typical warped rotor vibration under braking. I'm trying to decide on the best course of action: a) have stock rotors turned? b) replace with aftermarket rotors. I'm lost when trying to decide about "slotted"/"drilled"/"drilled & slotted"/"dimpled&slotted". Strictly everyday driving. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Replace with OEM units. Make sure wheels are torqued to specification.

Turning a warped rotor is a waste of time and money. Heat has already damaged the integraty of the steel and they maybe all right at first, they will warp again soon. OEM rotors work just fine, but if like the drilled and sloted look make sure to use a high quility pad or the rotors will eat them up.

if, in fact, you need new rotors (not pad material buildup), since the first set lasted what? 8 years? I'd agree with those above re OEM rotors. btw, you do know there are forum vendors that sell GM parts at a discount most likely significantly less than your local dealer, right?

I'm gonna go against the grain here, 'magine that
Any quality aftermarket rotor will work as well as a factory. When I say quality I mean like a Raybestos, Wagner, NAPA or even an AC Delco unit. You can also look at the rotors from DBA, as sold by Tirerack.com

As for turning them, measure the current thickness against the throw away spec and determine whether they are turnable or not. Turning a rotor is not harmful and thousands are done every day. Don't buy into the 'it's a corvette' thing.

One last thing.... as for what type ... drilled, slotted etc, if you watched the reveal or have seen pics of the new 2014 then you saw the GM has gone to a slotted rotor. Ther's a reason for that.

Quick/ Short ; I have been an aerospace machinist for 30 yrs. I tried turning large rotors off Vettes and BMWs. Very delicately removing just enough to get them // .0002 As soon as they are back on the car they POP right out of whack again.

Check out some of our combos. For you any of these will be fine. I personally like the looks of drilled and slotted.

I've done far more than my share of rotors from the very early composite rotors of the 80's to todays slotted/drilled large rotors without any problems

NAPA makes nice, beefy, quality rotors. They have a great warranty and I believe they're slotted too.

I have bought the ones Brakemotive sells and have zero issues with them. Their customer service is second to none. They are a supporting vendor here on CF, check them out.

I replaced mine with DBA slotted rotors. Only problem I had was DBA sent me all right side rotors. Took some time to sort that one out. Boxes were marked wrong.
Then one of the replacement rear rotors was warpped from the factory or retailer. Must have been stored flat. Took it to Auto parts store and they said they could not turn slatted rotors.

Did some checking around and found a shop that had a good reputation and they did a perfect job. They can be turned and trued.
This shop also roughed up the rotor so it looked just like new.

Have over 60,000 miles on then with no problems. Will buy DBA again.

I have a set of these on my 07 and they are very nice, last a long time, & are much lighter then the OEM. http://shop.performanceafx.com/C6-Z51-Corvette_c15.htm

Hard to beat Brakemotive for quality, value, and great customer service. You can spend more but you won't get any better value or service.
