Using Hockey Pucks for Jacking the Car ? I am
I know this may sound a little cheap but I had previously bought the billet jacking pucks for my 3 previous C5's but now that I am on corvette number 4, a 2008 C6, I decided to try the budget route.
I looked around and finally found your regular old hi density hockey pucks cheap. I ordered 6 in case 1 or 2 somehow got knocked off or disappeared.
Using my old standby, which has never failed me, an adhesive sealant called GOOP.
I attached the hockey pucks in the appropriate places about 6 months ago and last week had new tires and wheels installed. The installer specifically said to me that the hockey pucks seem to be the best approach that he has seen. Seems the rubber pucks hold onto the jack better that the billet metal pucks.
The 6 pucks were like $10-$12 including shipping versus $75-$80 for the nicer billet pucks. Although I have never had GOOP fail, I have the 2 spares and at $2 each its a pretty inexpensive method to protect that bodywork that wraps around and under the car sills.
PS: The black hockey pucks are much harder to see than the silver colored metal pucks, you really have to look for them to even see them.

I use the hockey pucks also. I have loops threaded into mine and insert them into the slots in the frame so mine only go on when needed, but they work great....

I've always used hockey pucks with eyelets screwed into them so they lock to the frame rails. I also made a leather pouch for storing them in the car so they are always available.

There wasnt a single store in Vegas that had hockey pucks. Sports Authority looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for them. I just ordered the plastic leave in place ones.

Personally, this is the only way to go. You can't see mine and they are now part of the frame since installation was done with construction adhesive after the pucks were scuffed up with coarse sandpaper. Can't afford to have an accident because of no jackpads.

First, you gotta give props to HD Rider ! A nice stitched bag to go with the eyelet improved pucks.
Why cant I live next door to someone like that ?
I feel so much less "cheap" now that I know you guys are doing the same. I dont think I'll ever spend $80 again for pucks even if they come in a pouch with my name engraved on them.
It seems the consensus is to remove them but with my memory I think semi permanent is my choice plus I dont think I can break the GOOP seal loose. If you just use a little GOOP you can get them loose with a screwdriver but I think I used a liberal amount so they wouldnt fall off.
I do like the eye bolt design that you guys came up with, very smart !
EVRose, I got the EXACT same look at Sports Authority so I ended up ordering mine via a sports website.

I have used the "hockey puck" jacking pucks and they work great. I take them off when not in use and store them in my storage wells in the trunk of my convertible.
Love the storage bag that HD Rider has made.....you should sell these, hint, hint

HD RIDER, Great job on the leather pouch. You should sell those here on the forum. I'll bet a lot of people would buy one.
