Default Wacked by a semi tire!!!

Well 28 days after getting my Vette I had my first run in with road debries. A semi decided to let go of a tire tonight and took out a Tahoe and my poor vette. Not only did it kill the bumper but the foglight went bye and some of the inner fender. The best part is I had just installed the chrome rims and said "this is perfect".

Anybody have a good shop in the Phoenix or Tucson area they recommend?

Well here is the damage, hopefully nothing to crazy that I can't see...Anyways I guess the good part is I'm alive and kickin!

Sorry that happened. Should be an easy fix. Glad you weren't injured. Take care.

You are going to be surprised by the repair estimate. Bet it's over a $1000. to fix. Try to find the best body shop. The body parts and light is a easy install....it's the SILVER paint match that will be difficult. Good Luck

I can't speak to their quality of actual body work, and as odd as it may sound to recommend a dealership fix, in 2009 I had the O'Reilly Chevy dealership on broadway near the mall and Best Buy in Tucson repaint my front bumper after a run in with a monsterous tumbleweed one night. It was an 08 SILVER C6 too. It matched and two years later still matched when I got rid of it. That's somewhat significant because I had another silver car that I had the door repainted on years ago, and a year after it was done, it looked three shades darker than the rest of the car.

Good luck with the repair!

This happened to me this summer.I was driving my new Venza and ran over a tire shard. It c aused $500.00 worth of damage to my car.Someone said that the truckers are using recaps. They should be illegal and and the truckers should be responsible for picking this sh-t up off the highway before someone gets killed!

Any Corvette clubs in your area?? They might be able to recommend a body shop. Glad you are ok. Could have been worse.

Sorry for your misfortune, and can't help with body shop recommendations, but recently there was a thread regarding truck tire safety on the forum. Lots of back and forth but the bottom line is there sure is a lot of cars getting damaged by gators in the road. Good luck ..

I was driving home the other day on the FL Turnpike and there was re tread all over the road, I was in my Jeep, so no issue, but there was a red C6 behind me dodging it all.
They need to outlaw re treads, it's ridiculous and dangerous. I see a retread almost daily on the road.

I think you are looking at probably $2500 in damage with a new bumper and paint, fog.
Good luck

Might look for a front fascia take off from someone doing a widebody conversion. I found one for my 06 MRM vert. Felt better with a factory paintjob on the front. I used Greyhound to ship it(way less money).

Took it to a shop for the swap and they scratched the drivers side fender and were repainting it when I stopped by to check. Not a very good job on the paint so I traded it in the day I took it home.

jl with the repair.

As long as you didn't get hurt. That's the important thing. Ask the question in the Regional for your area. I'm sure you got some good shops around. Good Luck with the repairs.

Sorry to hear you joined the "hit a road gator" club. I was forced to hit one last Sept. and my new C6 had less then 700 mile. Damage looked very similar to yours and the repair tab was over $2,800. Just glad I wasn't on my Harley. Good luck with the repair.

New bumper plus light, and inner fender plus paint 3000.00 my guess.

$2-3k or so. Welcome to the attacked by road gator club. Some states' DoT needs to get their heads out of their butts.
