IMHO the ONLY thing wrong with that picture is the white painted flames coming out of the front vents... Nothing wrong with converting a high HP car over to AT for drag racing.

uhmmm! Were are all the Z06 "purists" ?

I recentley purchased a coupe completely converted with oem parts into a Z06 by a very prominant forum vendor whom builds and sells most of the supercharger kits. This was his personal car and he installed all oem external body parts, seats, RPM Z06 trany & rear, forged & sc 427 and a few called it ricerish for such a car to dare to have z badges!!!

I also asked recentley if it was possible to convert the z roof into a targa and got thrashed again by the purist....... so now we go from shifting to gears like your supposed to do in "pure" z to an auto. THE NERVE to altar creation !!!! lol ! btw I sold last summer a stroker with an rpm built auto(awesome)

but where are all the z purist ??

It doesn't have a Z06 engine either. If it was a Z06 from the factory, then it's still a Z06 now.

And if it wasn't a Z06 when it left the factory, no amount of parts, oem or not, is going to make it a Z06. It may be a very nice Corvette, but it won't be a Z06.

Did you install the OEM frame/brakes/all that jazz too?

I'm sure the car was a beast and fun as hell. However, using that logic it sounds like I should be able to turn my Kia Rio daily driver into a Z06 too.

Maybe it was worth it to the original owner to dump all that money into the car... but if I was buying it and was told "it was converted to a Z06" that's just a big red flag to me unless the price was too good to pass up.

Most of us here have a good laugh at the kids who put the "GT-R" badges on their Honda's. It's the same principle here - just scaled up a bit.

auto is better for drag racing in this type of situation... but I love to row through the manual gearbox on my cars.
