Back up camera in 2013 Grand Sport

I looked at a 2009 Z06 that had a Kenwood head unit installed in place of the factory unit before I bought my Grandsport. Some of the things I noticed were that:
I liked the navigation more on the Kenwood
My iPhone 5 works well with the factory, but the contacts do not transfer - have to save up to 30 numbers seperatly in the factory unit
The Kenwood had the backup camera and it seemed to be fine, it also had the Metra GMOS-04 GM Factory Integration Adapter so that all the controls, bose speakers and chimes still worked.
All said, the Kenwood seemed to be better for actually using it over the factory navigation unit and to be honest, I generally don't use the factory nav and just use my iPhone instead at this point for directions. If you like the "factory look" you might not want to tear out part of a package that GM charged you way too much for, but if you want something that allows you to add the camera and also gain better use of your phone and to me a better navigaion system the after market might be the way to go. Not sure what it does to resale value of the Vette, but you can always keep the factory unit so that it can be put back in.
On my long list of things to do . . .

Has anyone come up with an aftermarket unit that will show turns/countdown on the HUD, like the factory nav? That might get me to switch.
We keep hearing promises, but so far it seems to be vaporware.

I have always put the lockpicks on my previous vehicles and never had any issue. They are not compatible with 2012 and newer factory nav units because of the work GM did to add the ipod interface in. I've been looking for a good solution because I want to keep my factory nav. So far, I haven't seen a good solution out there.

I'm going with this next week, I'm not buying a c7 for a few more years so I'm getting the factory nav replaced with this.

Click on his screen name and view more posts by him. He made it himself and provided instructions in one of his threads. It is an incredibly ingenious idea.

Thanks. Just to let you know, adding a monitor (4.3") in the pics added,
one must be willing to forego the vanity mirror for the driver. In my case, I never used the mirror, so it was an easy decision to make.
I do have a PDF file with instructions of how to insert a monitor into the Vanity mirror cover, and attach it to the visor.
1) The visor has to be removed from the car in order to do this mod. Instructions can be found on this forum, but if not, I do have those saved.
2) The vanity mirror has to be taken out of the visor. The wiring for the mirror and homelink is left in place, and the on/off button can be cut out of the circuit and wires taped.
3) The monitor power supply can come from the back up lights.
4) All the wiring from the camera to the monitor is run under the windshield side pillar moulding, so all wiring is hidden.
I have PM'd you the PDF. If you have any questions or concerns, please PM me.
I bought the monitor and camera for less than $40.00. It takes patience and a few tools to cut out the hole in the cover to fit the monitor.
Counting all the material including the 1/8" rod, I have about $50.00 in this mod.

Aftermarket Nav was the best thing I ever did to my interior. Even more of a bump if you come from a 1LT. Nav (that can actually guide me to POI or my house) DVD, Bluetooth, back up camera. Picked mine up originally from DD Mods and sold my stock one for almost the price to cover the whole new setup.
