427/60th stripe question
Can owners tell me about the care and feeding of the vinyl stripes on these 2013 models?
Can the stripes be clay-barred? Do you wax or polish and buff them as you would the painted finishes?
Thanks in advance…

I don't have a good answer for you, but I share your concern. I have a 2012 CE ZR1 with barely visable satin black stripes on the hood, roof and tail section of the car. Like you, I worry about how easy those stripes could be damaged. I carefully hand waxed the stripes and just as carefully wipe/polish the wax off. I don't use an orbital polisher and don't think that would be a wise idea on that vinyl product. Mine is not a driver. So this cleaning and waxing is infrequent and I don't mind babying it. We'll see what others have to say.

I would just wipe them down with the towel I use for removing the wax or polish.

I have a GS and I clay bar the stripes. Since it removes contaminants and isn't abrasive I see no reason not to. Rub parallel to the edges and you'll be fine. Otherwise, treat the same as paint.

you shouldn't have to ....
I have the white Heritage stripes on my '12 GS. They should last 10-15 years without waxing. Take care not to wash or push across the edges of the stripes too much. The heat and cold expansion of the stripes do tend to loosen the adhesive at the edges and corners over the years naturally. The vinyl will then crack and will eventually start to peel. The clear coating on top of the vinyl can scratch and crack as well under extreme heat and cold, it’s just a matter of time. Enjoy them while you can. You will know where to put the new replacement stripes on over the un-faded portions of the paint the next time.

I use a popular (with some) product line of protectants and polishes, always applied by hand. Having cared for Quicksilver and Machine silver I realize I will never see the depth of darker colors.
If I did go Arctic White I doubt I would be as detail zealous as I am now and would probably clay once and polish twice annually with a hand wash when necessary.
Do I understand correctly that there is clear coat OVER the 427/60th stripes?
