This has probably been asked before, but I wasn't able to locate a thread.

Anyone have experience going from a 2007 (LS2) to 2008 (LS3)?

There is a nice local '07 with 10k miles for ~$33k in my area, a truly beautiful car in like-new shape.

I'm curious if the upgrade to LS3 is *highly noticeable* to the point that I would regret not just waiting (or driving further) for a 2008.

Higher horsepower would be nice, but ... apart from someone who tracks or drags, would I even notice?

How about the steering / shifting? I'm not overly picky, but obviously like everyone want to get the most for my hard earned $$.

Any other thoughts about purchasing an '07 base at this time? (vs waiting, looking for an '08 etc)

Other than I think the price is WAY too high...I paid 36k for my 2010 3lt with 7k miles on it...you can "negotiate" down to 33k?!? How nice of them to let you pay 5k "ish" more than you should...

Only reason to go earlier would be better price/color discontinued. Otherwise, why not get the upgrades in the 08.

I have a 2013 1LT 6-speed coupe and my dad is looking at a 2007 1LT 6-speed convertible. I went and test drove it and the power was not that much different.

I wouldnt hesitate at all to go for the LS2 car.

One thing I will tell you is that I like the tranny feel better in my car than the T56. Shifter feels longer than the one in my 2013.

You cant go wrong with either.

So it's a pricey, by a LOT.

And the '08 is better, but not to the point that this car is 'worthless' in comparison.

I like the low miles / one owner.

So what do you think it's worth? $30k ?

If it the combo you want I would not hesitate on a 07. Sure there are some upgrades but not that noticable. My 07 has been a great car.
Work on the price and go for it.

I see a dealer add at the top of C6 gen for a local kia dealer who is asking 39,999 for a 05 coupe.Mine is worth more than I thought.

Yes that car is pricey. It looks to be a 1lt or maybe 2lt car too. Low miles are nice but not that nice. You can find a low mileage 3lt car for that or less.

08 did have some nice upgrades but I wouldn't worry about the 30hp difference, 400hp is plenty to get into trouble with

Keep looking. It's early in the year so once April/May roll around you'll find a lot more for sale in our area.

I have to agree it does sound a little to high. I bought 2009 with 12,000 miles LS3 its excellent condition for 34000

Either way, I'm really glad I decided to wipe the E46 M3 I was looking at for $30k 50k miles under the rug.

What an awesome vehicle these C6 vettes are!

I'm going to offer them $30k and if they take it great... otherwise I'll just keep hunting.

I think I'd offer 28k knowing you can get more car for the 33k you were looking at to begin with. Were it me, I would figure what I had to spend and then find the newest, lowest miles I could, then be prepared to walk away if the number wasn't what you are willing to spend. I was originally looking in the 08 range for more money, then found my car for less than I capped myself at...take your time and the right car will come along.

Yes take your time to find the right car at the right price. It took me almost a year of searching to get the car I wanted at the price I was willing to pay. That price seems high if you ask me.

It's more then power in the 08.It's a change in steering and even bigger,a change in the tranny.Much easier shifting in the manual. Power is subtle but there. I'd go with the newest one you can afford to buy.A 10,000 mile example in an 07 isn't bad but an 08 is better.33 is to high a price too.You can get an 08 for that kind of money.What package?3LT??2LT?1LT?

A 2008 or latter LS3 with optional dual mode exhaust will give you 9% more horsepower, plus better shifting and more precise steering. If you can find one with the optional F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control Suspension you will gain better brakes, and a quieter, flatter, smoother ride with more responsive and precise handling, plus adjustible ride firmness with the flick of a switch. Are these black and white differences? No. Would you appreciate them? That depends. Most buy Corvettes for looks, not performance, and frankly can't detect the differences. A smaller percentage of true driving enthusiasts think the differences are quite significant, add greatly to their driving pleasure and even safety. Good luck on your buying decision.
