Here in Florida the love bugs like white, at a stoplight you can see them swarm over a white car.

This, above seems accurate.

Have had "competition yellow" Corvette and it was the same way, too: attracted lots of bugs. Had a pale yellow car and to a lesser extent it attracted bugs. Seems like the stronger and brighter the yellow color, the more bugs are attracted.

I guess they just like the color. I can't blame them since it's a great color to be attracted to....

My VY GS coupe set a new fly record when I last washed it - 34 flys on it at one time.

Flys just seem to LOVE it, girls and women haven't cared for the color.

I can't believe that no one has figured out this phenomena to this point.
Your car is obviously so fast, the bugs simply can't get out of the way!

Insects see in the ultraviolet (UV) spectrum, and light colors reflect more UV light. Flowers that need to attract insects have UV patterns or are pigmented with white or yellow to attract more bugs. You and your bright yellow picnic blanket look like the biggest, tastiest flower in the world to a passing fly. If the bugs are bugging you, try a green or blue blanket at your next picnic.

Default Bugs on Yellow

Had that happen with bugs til I put RejeX on. Now the finish on the Z is so slick, the bugs just slid off....lol

Seriously, during love bug season with RejeX on the front, the bugs can generally be washed away by just spraying the front with a strong stream of water from the hose. Here's the RejeX link in case anyone is interested...

Nicely researched - well done

I have the same problem too. If you really want to attract them use Mcguiars Ultimate Detailer and they really come. I guess it's the smell along with the bright yellow color - it's amazing!

Several of us with yellow Vettes have commented on this effect. May be they think its a giant bug light ..........

I have the same experience with our Velocity Yellow Z; insects are drawn to it as if it were a flower! Last weekend, at a local car show, I had critters on the car all day. It isn't even bug season yet!! I guess they know a beautiful car when they see it.......

I had a yellow 1969 Corvette back in the day and bees loved that car. I guess it looked like a big flower to them?

I've noticed that too. After enough of them get on there and start having their parties, they begin to relieve themselves on the paint. When they fly off, I have to clean up the poo. At first I tried covering the car with honey. When they landed, they got stuck and I could then smash them with a board. That didn't work very well. Lately, I have tried applying so much wax, that when they land on the paint, they slip off and break their necks when they hit the ground. That seems to work better (unless you're the bug!).
