DIY side skirts - finished
After several dry fits, a couple of visits to the shop to trim the boards and then waiting for the film to arrive from Japan, two months later i finally finish the project. after seeing them on a c5 i couldn't resist trying out..so thanks for the info $$$frumnuttin' and badger 6299...on mine i decided to cut them curved to match the door profile and then i wrapped them with the vinyl to match my other accents...

almost did. but i have experience with painted chin spoilers and they dont last..it would look better though. i opted for the original urethane finish and then wrapped it with vinyl...so far i have hit a few curbs and there is no damage to it...the lip is by RK Sport..
and thanks to others for the likes on the side skirts......and to bucwheat too.....for contributing to d discussion...

no no wood here big guy..it was made out of 3/4" x 6" PVC board that you can get at Lowes. I made a template of the basic shape by copying the curvature of the door sill, then transferred that to the board. I then took it to a wood shop where they routed the exposed edge with 1/2" bit. The PVC board is a great product, it is flexible, wont rot and can be drilled and tapped is you want.
For the small splash guard, i also made a template and then cut it from 3/16" ABS plastic. Actually I used a piece of an actual mud flap i bought from a local auto store - worked great. i attached it to the fender lip with no.8 x 1/2" long screws. I also used two of the OEM screws from the sill to attach it to the back side of the PVC board.
for screws under the car i used no. 8 x 1 1/4" long plated sheet metal screws and 1" dia washers. I drilled the PVC board with 1/8" bit and then the underside of the sill with 1/16" dia bit so that the screws would go in tight.
the CF vinyl wrap was more difficult. I did buy the 3M primer. that stuff is awesome. once the vinyl is down it wont come off ..but bc of the curve you got to be careful so it doesnt wrinkle on you...with some one helping you would be easier - i was solo on this one...
i took a bunch of of the installation...ill post them tnite.
