Default What is this?

And where did it come from? Found this near the left front wheel of my '11 GS. Any idea what it is and where it came from (assuming it came off the GS)?

yup, not sure what it is after looking at it though.....

EDIT: It obviously looks like it "clips" on somewhere with the 2 ends looking like it does, and it is definitely exterior from the looks of the dirt. Thats all i can tell... It may not be from the GS though. It doesn't resemble anything i've seen on a car before....

Just a thought. Is anything else under your car that dirty, or are you meticulous like some vette owners? Or under the hood as well?? I'm asking cause that piece is pretty dirty and if the rest is clean then it isn't for the vette.....

Entirely possible to have come from the car next to it in the garage. I'll post in the other car forum for help, as well. Thanks.

That's the cover for the chain sprocket on the top of your garage door opener.

Absolutely right!!! I knew I've seen that somewhere but not on a car.

Make sure you check the gear and chain on your opener. Could be wearing down and they are designed to break rather than ruin the motor. Mine popped the other day and shot the cover to the other end of the garage. Fortunately the chain missed my car.

Either that or it's the cover for the chain drive to the front wheels of the GS....if you have the 4WD option, Z53.

I just replaced one of my openers 2 weeks ago. The mind still works for the trivial stuff. I just wish I could remember where I put stuff.
