New Leftover GS, or Used Z06?

If the Z still has a warranty it would be a no brainier for me Z all the way. If not than the GS. The Z06 is an amazing car with an enormous amount of power and is everything a corvette should be IMO. I would be scared of the valve drop issue if the cars warranty has expired however.

I would buy new. I own a '11 Zo6 and it is an insane, great car. I have owned 4 other Z's. BUT...if given the choice you propose I would definitely buy the GS new w/ a new warranty. I have read countless threads of Z owners who bought used and then had serious issues. This is not a car you want w/ no warranty. Many Z's have been modded, abused then cleaned up returned to stock and traded in. Only for an unsuspecting buyer like you to buy an abused Z. Then we read your thread of what a POS it is and how GM refused to warranty your motor and it only has 10K on it???!!! LOL The Z is a great car but I would never buy it unless I knew the owner. Youtube should stop you in your tracks from buying a used Z. I don't care if it has a warranty or is certified. I remember a thread years ago of a new Z owner not being covered on a certified GM car because no one knew it had a tune. Lawsuit yes but who needs the headache?? New GS! Buy an extended warranty and have a great happy experience w/ a new vette! Is the Z great and better in my opinion??....yes. But the downside to a used one is scary !

Thanks guys, this is exactly where my mind went as well.
The '08 I am looking at is a one owner from a private party but I am leary of owning a Z out of warranty (it only has a few months left of powertrain).
I have driven the GS and it is a great car. I like the new interior, and the LS3 seems to be a rock solid option.
The other thing I have considered is that the available interest rates on the new car are 1-2 percentage points lower, that is annother 2K on top of the price difference.
I have been shotgun in a Z06 and it is a monster no question, but I have to be honest in saying I wonder if it is as fun to drive on the street as the GS? 60MPH in first gear translates to a big risk of getting arrested each time you want to row through the gears. I cant help but wonder if the trans in the GS provides more fun at a lower risk of Incarceration, LoL

You can't beat new for the warrantee plus the GS has the wide body like the Z. Good luck whichever you decide.

I had the same choice when I was looking. New 11 GS Vert or Used 09 Z06 with 10k. I really wanted the 427 but new won out since I had no idea how the Z had been treated. Luckly they hadn't announced announced the 427 vert yet or the decision would have been even more difficult. Anyway, I'd go (went) GS.

the Z may cost you money soon. The GS is bullet proof and under warranty. If you want a race car and are willing to shell out another 2k in order to have the heads done get the Z.
I would get the Z.
I would get the Z.

GS unless you plan on racing then go Z06. Advantage New Car Warranty, removable (or clear top... my preference) and lots of fun if you want it as a driver, plus you save yourself 2-6K that is a bunch of money at least in my book.

ordinarily, I'd say the GS because it's new. but I've had 436 for awhile, so I'd probably choose the Z. it sure would be interesting. to me.
