Just out of surgery:Today is heavy heart day...say a prayer for my son
6 - 13 - 13UPDATE after surgery. The DR went in this morning and replaced Tyler's large nerve with a cadaverous nerve and repaired another nerve that was severly damaged. Dr had to make another large incision but feels that after PT and rehab for 4-6 weeks that Tyler will start feeling less pain. We have our fingers crossed.
-The pain has increased so much these past few weeks that we believe anything is better then its been.
UPDATE:June 5th UPDATE Next Thursday June 13th will be Tyler's next surgery, Nerve Specialist from Georgetown Hospital will do the job....UPDATE:May 14th 2013- Tyler made the decision to have the next surgery sooner then later. he will call the Dr from Georgetown Univ and schedule the surgery as soon as possible.........I know this is off topic a bit but many of you know me as the Corvette Sales guy from Criswell Chevrolet. I have helped many Corvette enthusiasts and customers/friends over the last 35 yrs of selling America's #1 Sports Car. Not many of you know last July 29th at 5pm our world was turned upside down when our 20 yr old son was hit by a car going 35 mph
(2nd worst phone call parents can receive). Tyler had his left Calf muscle sliced in half and removed. He has been through so much pain with his leg and foot. He came back from college last semester a mess. He had lost so much weight, depressed with unbearable pain. As of today, he has been living at home this semester and going to school, physical therapy, psychologist and many tests. Today he is going for a nerve test that will hopefully indicate if there is any surgery he may need or other therapy to help him alleviate this pain. We are not giving up. Trying everything to give him a normal life. I have to say with all our love and support from family and friends he is smiling now, relaxed. Thank goodness. But he still wishes for one day of no more pain...all I ask is for a prayer, not sympathy. He is not a complainer but his anguish can be read on his face daily.
Thanks for listening. Say a prayer. Hug your loved one's...often.
This picture was taken 8 weeks after the last surgery.
Update: 4/25/13: More Surgery needed. My son is exhausted but the Dr from Georgetown U Hospital said that once he goes in he will be able to tell what path he will take to repair the nerves around the missing calf that is giving Tyler so much pain down the leg and thru the ankle/foot.I am out of words for the moment.

Mike:
You probably already know all this, but - - - most doctors have little education or experience in dealing with pain. Your son needs a genuine specialist in pain management/treatment. Good luck to both of you.

So sorry to hear your family's going through such an awful thing, Mike.
Bad things happen to good people, with your assistance this terrible negative could be turned into a positive.
My family's prayers are with you, your son and family my friend.

Support, thoughts and prayers coming your way Mike! He is young and strong, with your family's love and faith he will do just fine. A quick story, when I was 21 I lost my pinky and fifth metacarpal on my right hand (I'm righty), five surgeries and extensive therapy later I was back on the softball field with the boys hitting bombs over the fence. I'd be happy to talk to him if you like...Warm wishes, Dan

Mike, that is awful. But I'm glad to hear your son is alive and OK. Y'all will be in my prayers for sure.
Today is my birthday, maybe I can use my birthday wish to wish for healing and relief for your son and your family.
