Well, maybe so. Not buying it though. Did the other driver realize you were racing? had a "race" with a mustang today and i wasn't even aware it was on until he pulled up next to me and said "I almost had you!" At the next stoplight.

No pictures, but yes I did have some cars that might be considered ricers. I didnt truely "rice" up the cars like so many of the young kids today do, but yet I still liked the feel of them.
Owned:
-1997 Ford Probe (base, mind u)
-2005 RX-8 GT
-2006 Mazdaspeed6
-2010 Mazdaspeed3
-2006 Subaru Legacy GT (current daily driver)
Of all of them, the Ford Probe (and my 1st car) was by far the ricest. It had an aftermarket intake and exhaust. I felt that the rest of them were peppy enough in stock condition that I just left them the way they were. Then again, I've always been a sucker for a quick stock vehicle so I really don't know what I would have did if I had the ricer syndrome.
I grew out of imports pretty early on though. Once i drove my first V8 (97 Cobra) I found that good 'ole American TQ ('merica!) was much more infectious, and worked my way up the Ford SVT Cobra lines up until I just got bored with Ford products and moved over into a Chevys. Corvettes were an inevitable transformation. Haven't looked back since.

99 2.5 rs scooby (didn't like it)
94 supra tt (still own and love it)
97 eclipse gsx (still own)
98 eclipse gsx (still own)
08 350z (still own)
Vettes a daily driver. I like the looks but honestly I like the build quality of the toyota and mitsubishi. They are simpler and sometimes thats a good thing. Not always but sometimes.

Yeah, call me old fashion but I absolutely love the SN-95 Cobras (94-98), even more than the New Edge (99-01) and the Terminators (03-04). They were all very heavy, lanky muscle cars. However, you certainly had it right with the exhaust note. There arent many cars that can rival the distinct sound of the 4v.

Not really ricer but my Japanese racer. My purchased new '67 Honda S800 Coupe after going to Pops Yoshimura for a race motor and factory suspension. Here running at Tachikawa AB, Japan in '70 with the Tokyo Sports Car Club.

Nope. Domestic only. That said, I respect the ability of the rice/ don't like it though. Much easier to drive w/ 4 dig wheels rather than 2 as in our case. From a dig their grip and my spin is making me use curse occasionally. From a roll, I smile most often.

Couple of RX 7's and Miata's All excellent sports cars in their class. Mazda has said it's bringing the RX 7 back this coming year.

I have owned some import cars
Toyota Supra
Dodge Stealth
Kept them totaly stock so I don't consider them ricers. They were fun cars and all I could afford at the time. Really liked the Supra as it could take a beating and never gave me any trouble.
The Stealth on the other hand would scare you to death with its torque steer if you were not used to it and expecting the HARD PULL at WOT.
My nephew loves his ricers and keeps telling me that a civic could beat my Vette. I just say bring it on anytime. So far no takers. Granted someone could build one that could beat a vette but I doubt it would be street legal.

A honest "NO."
The term "ricer" did not exist in the early 80's and nobody in these parts were souping them up for racing. We were still known as "hotroders" or "motorheads" and driving camaros, mustangs, novas, chevelles, etc.
