Default Replace steering wheel in 05 question

Can you replace the steering wheel in a 05 with the later model three spoke wheel? If yes, how much would labor be?

you can but you need additional parts to do it.The normal swap time is about 45 minutes at the dealer. Not sure when you add the additional work.

You'd need to switch out the clockspring and airbag assembly. It's been done by a couple of people here but at significant expense; if I'm not mistaken it was in excess of $2000.

I don't know what you're looking for but a far less expensive alternative is to go with a modified version of the 2005 wheel. I got this for around $400.

Down South Vettes. They're a forum-supporting vendor held in very high esteem by those here who've dealt with them. www.dsvettes.com

It looks like you're best bet is to send partstaxi or gmpartshouse an email or IM, or do an extensive search of the forums for part numbers. I am on the fence about doing this as well, but last I looked it was at that 2k mark due to the airbag; 500 sounded much better.

I looked at Parts Taxi. I believe you need most parts in this diagram minus the paddle shifters & radio controls (#6 & 8).

It is unclear which of THESE (if any) contain the correct parts. At face value, it looks like for ~200.00 you can buy the whole assembly.

Parts Taxi does not have an drivers side airbag listed, but GM Parts House does for 585.00. The diagram shows an 2005 wheel, but I would imagine its for illustration purposes only.

So it looks like it may be possible for the cost of ~800.00 (or more due to hazmat shipping on airbags).
