Default Solid leather or perforated leather whats the difference

My new '13 GS has the two tone perforated seats. I dont have heated seats so what's the difference between the perforated and smooth seats. Are the perforated considered the sport seats.

My understanding is that you need to go to the 3LT option to get the sports perforated seats. My 2013 2LT base has the smooth leather seats.

One has holes and are a bitch to clean if you get anything in them. The other don't have holes and clean easily.

Pretty self explanatory if you think about it. Lol

Not really Don for the simple fact that I don't have heated seats so I don't need perforation there. Cosmetic reasons? Maybe but I don't think so. I don't think they would perforate the seats for no reason.

The perforated seats should breath better. On my 2011 2lt the sport seats are perforated and cost extra. The standard seats were not.

Having heated seats do not necessitate that need for perforated seats, nor does having perforated seats mean you have heated seats. Although that might be the norm, it is not a guaranteed rule. My 2013 GS does have perforated heated seats but my 2010 Mazda 3 has heated seats but are not perforated.

With that said, I am going to assume you have the 2LT trim, yes? On the 2LT you had the option to get 2 tone leather seats and that option only came as perforated seats (not heated). On the 3LT trim (like mine) you get the perforated heated sport seats.

I like the third choice: the one I have and that is Alcantara inserts. They look and feel great. I just hope Alcantara is a durable material and wears well.

My '13 GS is a 2LT. So because my seats are two tone and perforated does it also mean they are the sport seats? And if they are the sport seats how is a sport seat different than a base seat.

I did a trim look up on 2LT vs 3LT and they both say "Sport Seat" however, the 3LT seat says "These seats incorporate adjustable lumbar and side bolsters for added comfort and support."

It's just a cosmetic choice. GM has been criticized about their interior when compared with cars 2 to 4 times their price. So, GM put in some more options in their interior packages; smooth (plastic coated) "leather", perforated, and Alcantara as well as a "new" seat design (that only really changes the headrest). If you look at the premo aftermarket interior forum vendors, you will see them offering all three of those materials and more for as long as the C6 has been around.

Alcantara spec sheet places it as the most durable faux suede and outperforming real suede. Additionally, it can be restored to its furry goodness if it gets matted down with soap and water (as reported in other posts here).

The perforated seats breathe better. They're not as cold in the winter or as hot in the summer which are two of the drawbacks to leather and why some people prefer cloth seats.

I beleive that heated seats can be had with or without the perforated surfaces.

I don't think the perforated seats were always available in the C6 although I have them on my '08. The 2013 dealer brochure says the sport seat has perforated leather seating surface and is available in the 3LT and 4LT packages on the coupe, convertible and Grand Sport but not the Z06.

Too, one's exposed skin does not tend to stick to perforated seats and perforated seats absorb more sound making the cabin quieter-- particulalrly when there is no passenger.

Sometimes having no passenger makes the car quieter, depending on who she is lol.

But I have found in my years of driving that a seat with a perf does not make you sweat as much on hot days. Perforated seats just breath better. However all leather seats make you sweat on hot days. and to the original question..... Yes the sport seats are perforated on the Corvette C6.

The sport seats have adjustable lumbar and side bolsters that the standard seats lack (and on earlier models they had side air bags while the standard seats did not).
