Default Corvette Crashes

I've seen many videos like this one:

on youtube where someone wrecks their corvette from driving too fast in a straight line and it swerves all of a sudden.

I've been reading the forums for a while, but just joined. I don't know much about cars, but I have been researching automotive technology and learning the engineering behind cars.

What causes the car to lose control in those videos? Why are most of the wipeout videos of corvettes?

Inexperienced driver, severe torque steer combined with massive HP increase causing the tires to break loose, maybe toss in a slight jerk of the steering wheel which ends up over correcting, all within a few seconds of eachother.

"Why are most of the wipeout videos of corvettes?"

I don't know that that's true. Do you have a Corvette?

Very light weight cars with a ton of power. Once the rear loses grip most drivers tend to over correct instead of just letting go of the throttle causing them to zig and zag and eventually I wipe out like the video above.

It could be of many reasons, Bad tires, bad drivers, too much power, oversteer on turns, oil on the track will cause tire spin and eventually loss control ...etc

To the OP......dont let the first post bother you.....secondly, why a lot of Corvette videos? Because the Corvette is probably the biggest name and most popular sports car out there with the most avid set of followers, particularly in clubs....and we all have video capability now. This one is a few years old....seen before.

Maybe more folks should ask this kind of question and there would be less Corvette crash videos on YouTube.

OP Keep in mind, just because you own a Corvette does not make you a good driver.

Although many of us have enjoyed high performance cars our whole lives, not true for some. In many cases, after years of driving the family van, and now with the kids grown, along with more disposable income, it's time to live life....and for some that is by purchasing a Corvette. Lack of experience and or lack of judgement can account for most accidents of this type.....with a Corvette, it's less forgiving and the next thing you know your on YouTube.

A few in this thread seem to have forgotten this.

Personal attacks/hostility toward others

The Forum should be a place where we treat one another with civility so that it remains a fun and friendly place to hang around with other Corvette enthusiasts. Hostility to others is rude and inappropriate.

Personal attacks cannot be tolerated. Attack ideas, not fellow Forum members.
