Default Help for mirror drip after wash.

Don't know if this has been suggested before but here goes. Instead of leaving the micro fibre towel wrapped around the base of the mirror for an hour, I now place the small shop vacs crevasse tool near the leaking area for about ten seconds and no more drip!

Discussed many times, you found yet another way to skin the cat.

Add placing plastic bag over each mirror, secure w/ rubber band.
Or my choice, use a leaf blower to blow water out of mirrors -- side & front markers and any other place water collects after washing. All methods work equally well.

Leaf blower + Since the mirror's can be turned towards the car, I spin them so I use the blower to get inside the mirrors

Wash, shammy, pull in shop, blow out mirrors, tail lights and side markers with air compressor, dry with microfiber (it's black). Then check tire pressure.

Sounds like you need a down spout! Drill a small hole in each mirror bottom about 2 inches in from the front facing edge of the housing and problem solved water drips right out to the ground after washing.

this is what I have done for years -- seems to me the suction is better because it pulls the water out -- blowers can push it further in to the seams.

and I rarely pivot the mirrors because the spring broke on my C5 and its a major pain to replace (have to go through from the interior) -- putting the crevice tool at the pivot point sucks the water right out of there too.

I just let it drip for about 1 hr.. then take a bottle of Zaino spray wax, give the dried up stain a quick spray, wipe it off & its perfect.. been doing it since 2007 when I bought the car, and I have NO stains etc.. looks perfect...

I also noticed that when my car is being washed that they air dry the convertible top immediately after washing it. The car is presented fully dry and ready to drive, not one drip anywhere.

Nice! I did this on an old Volvo taillight many years ago to drain water. Drilling on my new GS invokes an entirely different feeling, though. Takes cojones!!

This was posted in the C5 section many many years ago and it still works very well on C6. I also take a little touch up paint to the hole to make it perfect.

Drilled all four taillights but never thought about the mirrors; interesting.
