Default Black exhuast tips

I am getting tired of polishing the exhaust tips after every track day. Polishing the outer 2 is fast enough but the inner 2 usually require some steel wool and take 3-4 times longer. I have see the Billy Boat black tips but I suspect an aftermarket tip without the holes inside would change the sound enough that I'd just rather do the polishing. So:
1. does the exhaust note change with these type of tips?
2. are there any black tips with a similar hole pattern?

Thanks.

Tips CAN change the sound, but I can't tell you how much with that switch.

Polishing tips shouldn't take as long as you're saying though. Once polished they should clean back up with minimal effort. What are you using? My tips only take me 3-5 minutes now to polish up once I got them to a nice, polished state.

Try putting a sealant on your tips...something easy like a spray wax. Should make your life MUCH easier.

You can PlastiDip your tips with satin black. They can withstand temperatures up to 315 degrees and if you don't like it it feels right off.

you should not have that hard a time cleaning them.

use something like Mother's mag. wheel cleaner and the sutt will come right off while they are warm, if not a couple of swipes of a rag with the cleaner and they should come clean. I run a rag on them and the car every time it goes in & out of the garage & I don't even run cats

It takes about 20 minutes of scrubbing with 0000 steel wool to get the inner 2 to look like the outer 2 after a track day. The sealants I have used seem to have no real effect.

I started with Blue Magic, a polish and sealant in one. They polished up nice but needed serious elbow grease to bring them back. Then I tried some Mothers polish followed by Rejex. Let that cure for ~18 hours. Stuff is outstanding on the paint but didn't hold up any better than the BM. This why I am looking for tips.

It does when you have to wait a day or 2 to get to them. Will try what you suggest though after the last session of the day. Already get abused in the paddock for using detail spray to get rid of the streaks of rubber off the paint for the same reason - it's much harder a day or so later.

Thought of that but thought keeping the holes clear would be difficult and likely leave the tips looking like sh$%.

I spray painted mine with some high temp paint. Now I have Corsa but definitely preferred the blacked out stock tips over the polishing hassle.

I hated cleaning mine too.....plus it was the only chrome on my Vette. I scuffed the tips and shot them with BBQ grill paint. I love the look!

This is my second season with my tips Plasti-dipped.
I have only wiped the outsides maybe 10 times and maybe 30 seconds total time to wipe all 4 tips. Never have to clean the insides...NEVER.
750 HP ZR1 makes a lot of heat and these still look perfect.

Think I am doing this, I've given up cleaning mine to only have them black 10 miles down the road. With no cats its a losing battle.

I used satin BBQ black after scuffing them up. Satin has a nice sheen to it. Last 2 yrs usually before needing touching up. I wipe them with brake cleaner to strip the paint and then repaint.

They do look good.

Did you take them off to paint or just cover everything against overspray?

Did the exhaust sound change materially after covering the holes in the tips with the plastidip?

I did not take the tips off....just taped everything off and shot about three coats. I Preferred the look of the flat black, but the other post with satin looked pretty sweet!

Was there any exhaust note change from the paint in the holes?
