2006 C6 Battery replacement
I own a 2006 C6 and need to replace the battery. I have 3 quick questions.
1. Which size/model should I buy?
2. Do they usually sell these at Costco?
3. Once installed does it need to be jump started?
Thank you.

I have owned a lot of corvettes and have tried different battery brands and types but have found I have had the best luck sticking with another Delco.
They come with a 6 year warranty and replaced the battery in my 2007 convert with a Delco Professional that I bought from my local chevy dealer's parts department for around $85. Just put it in, they come charged, it will start right up without a jump and just remember to reindex the windows after replacing the battery.

Not knowing what part of the country your in, I'd say get a GM factory replacement battery with enough cold cranking amps to start your car anytime during the year.( and a good pro-rated warranty) If your here in the deep south, Florida Gulf coast, where I am, the heat can kill a battery in no time. You get what you pay for so I wouldn't skimp on cost. I'd get a good one.

My factory Delco died at 22 months. I replace it with an Optima RED top and I replaced it after 5 1/2 years. It was still going strong I just didn't want any problems. I replace it with another RED top.

I just replaced my battery with AC Delco and don't forget to re-index the windows. So make sure the windows are down before replacement.

We've had very good service from Delco, and bought another one when it was time for replacment. But if you travel a lot, you might consider Autozone or Walmart- not many Delco dealers open on weekends if you ever need a warranty replacement in a hurry.

From my experience....if you are in a climate zone that has lots of HEAT such as Arizona then I would definitely go with the Optima Red Top. Have them in two Vettes after having problems with ALL lead acid batteries here in Arizona. Lead acid can also leak in very high temps which is another problem and no one needs more problems........ we have enough problems in Washington, DC

GM / Delco battery sucks. Just toasted my second on a 2008. The new battery is not warranted.
Bought a Duralast (Autozone). Great warranty. 3 year unconditional and 5 or 6 prorated.

1. Size-wise, you need a Group 90 battery for a 2006 C6 coupe (not sure if the Z06 is the same).
Very easy to get a wrong size that actually seems to fit. Read the details:

2. To choose a specific model, decide what you need and how much you're willing to spend.
For example, if you got good service from the OEM Delco, do you want to spend more for a deep-discharge Optima? Maybe, maybe not.
3. To help you decide, there are lots of "best battery" threads. Like this:

Group 35 or 90 is the size you need for 2006, w/+ terminal on the right.
Last year I finally had to replace the OEM Delco in my 2006 C6, and I got an Optima Red Top.
Can't really say anything bad about the Delco, but I've had great service from the Optima's in my other vehicles/boats.
And get a battery tender if you don't already have one.
While the battery is out, it's a good opportunity to easily change the cabin air filter. Purolator C25623
Here's a list of early model-year battery sizes and the GM Battery Tray part numbers.
Year / Battery Group Size / Battery Tray P/N
2005 86 10268430
2006 90 10352084
2007 90 10352084
2008 85 10268430
2009 85 10268430

But it's about 2 inches taller than the OEM Group 90... interferes with access to the cabin air filter?
Not a problem -- the battery is pretty easy to remove. And if the Group 35 has better specs/price/warranty/availability, I'd consider it. Just make sure the hold-down clamp fits properly & holds the battery securely.
More Tips
Don't lose the cone-shaped terminal clamp nuts. No need to remove -- just loosen 'em. And definitely don't replace with regular nuts:

Take a photo before you remove the old battery... it's really bad to connect your battery backwards:

Just replaced mine yesterday, 5 years old. The load test showed it was a bit on the low side. I replaced it with the OEM Delco, 6 year warranty, no need to jump start.
Dealer installed it, did the indexing of the windows and all that good stuff. Cost was about $100.00.
