Default Air Dam Fasteners?

On the base C6 air dam, there is a hole where each of the side pieces connect to the center section of the air dam. What fasteners go in these holes? The dealer parts guy looked it up but we couldn't find a fastener listed.

You can get these in the hardware bins at Lowes and Home Depot. They are just plastic push pins with barbs. They have several different sizes.

OK, but if your Flux Capacitor kicks in unexpectedly, you may regret you didn't replace them . . . . I'm just sayin

There must be a serious increase in drag without these pins?

Mine won't stay lined up without them. When I drag hard enough I reach under and snap them back together.

Yo, if you want to PM me your address, I can mail you a few. I bought a pack (not OEM, if that matters) with way more than I need.

Stu

P.S. I bought them at an auto parts store (can't remember which one), if you find that more convenient

You don't want to encounter the space-time continuum sans those pins - one minute you're on the way to the Home Depot and BLAMO, in an instant you're in the Drive Thru at Krispy Kreme . . . . . that's exactly why Chevrolet uses nothing but top notch plastic push pins for that critical application . . .

Auto Zone has them...several different automotive fastners there, I think they are made by Dorman. Not OE, but they are almost a perfect match.

Dorman could be OE, who knows...

Default Air Dam Fastners

Same subject just another part of the question. As noted in the thread there are several sizes. What size fits tying the three air dam pieces together? 1/4 5/16 3/8??

I had my air dam and side pieces replaced recently, and the GM parts book simply does not show those pins. I asked the tech, he knew what the "problem" was and said he just grabs a couple of the proper size from the parts bin.

GM probably did use these fasteners because they are cheap but they do act as break-away parts. I would much rather these pins came out easily rather then tear-up the air dam which is so low it scraps anything above 2 inchs high on my car.
