Default blown cig ltr fuse

Cig lighter never has worked on my '05 C6. Thanks to CF member NOSFERATU, I checked that fuse and it was blown. Replaced it with a new 20A, but, still no power to the cig lighter, and, the fuse DID NOT blow when I tested the outlet with lighter and a 12V plug. The AUX outlet in consol works fine.
FWIW, looks like the cig lighter never has worked. I've owned the C6 for 3 months.
Where should I start chasing wires? Since I'm a nonsmoker it's a non-issue..............except for the fact that it bothers me when something doesn't work right.
Is the cig receptacle hot all the time or just in ACC mode or car running? The AUX is hot all the time.

Dave

Cig outlet is hot all the time.

If you pulled out the fuse and it was blown and you put in a new fuse and it does not work, I would make sure the fuse is properly seated and if it is, try another fuse. Take the one out for the console Aux and try it.

If that does not fix your problem you will have to take the console cover off and do your trouble shooting with the wires and 12 socket.

Here is a link to take your console off.

Good luck

I plug my (lap) timing transponder into the cigarette lighter receptacle and I'm 99% sure it's hot all the time.

If it were mine, I'd pull the fuse, then with an OHM meter find the power side of the fuse location for that fuse.
IF you have power in the fuse location, then check to see if there is a complete circuit from the fuse location to the lighter with the OHM meter. IF you do not have a complete circuit there, it may be a loose connection at the back of the lighter housing.

If there is no power found at the fuse location, then I'd defer to the dealer to fix, unless you have a diagram of the wiring.
If this is not clear to you, PM with your number and I'll call you to explain better.

No problem. Anyways try another fuse then see if it's connected behind the dash. Otherwise dealer. Everyone else here seems to have good input on the matter. Good luck.
