Paint defender clear bra
I just bought and applied the 3M Paint defender clear bra. It looks great and is fairly easy to apply, just don't go too thin or too thick. If you apply it too thin it will orange peel and takes forever to remove. If you apply it too thick, obviously, it will puddle but is easy to remove. I did both so I'm speaking from two cans, countless hours, and lots of experience.
The good news is when done correctly it dries clear and the only way you can tell it's there is by a small line where it meets the paint. It cost me 43.00 for a full kit which includes one can, plastic, blue tape, and the spray gun. You don't need the gun but it sure helps.
I applied it to the bumper, 18" of the hood, the hood corners where you press down to latch it, door handle wells, and the rear hatch where you push down to close it.
The finished product looks great and unless you get right up to it you don't notice it. There are minor imperfections but at least not rock chips.
The black dot in the pics is from my camera (happened after I dropped it).
Taped off and ready to spray
Paint Defender wet
Done. Don't even notice it.
Barely see the line.
Again, invisible.
Can't see it but I applied a 12" x 3" area where I push down to latch the hatch.

Will this product leave a line in the paint after it is removed?
How long can it stay on the car safely?
Any additional precautions for cars that have been repainted.
I am very interested in this product, I just still have some questions.
I could see using this product in painted areas subjected to rock chips.
