Can C6 CEL codes be pulled in the DIC like in the C5?
I went to the dealer today to get and oil change and while there I had them investigate why my check engine light was on. They told me that the light was due to the fuse I installed to defeat the Skip-Shift feature. So my question is can codes be pulled in a C6 DIC using the procedure described below for C5? If so, are there any slight differences with the C6 process?
How to Pull Codes:
1. Turn your key to the "ON" position, but do not start the engine.
2. Clear any present messages by pressing the RESET button.
3. Hold the OPTIONS button down, and press the FUEL button 4 times. (This will get you into the "codes" section of the DIC.
4. The computer will automatically display all the codes your car has created. It will cycle through each code every 3 seconds. (Have a pen and paper handy to write down the codes)
Note: Any code that ends in an "H" is a history code (something that has occurred in the past, but is not reporting as an error currently.)
5. Once the computer has finished going through all of its codes, press RESET to enter Manual Configuration mode. It should start with a module and show "NO CODES" or "# Codes."
6. To optionally reset codes once in manual mode, press and hold RESET until is displays "NO CODES."
7. Press OPTIONS to go into the next module (ie, from PCM, or Powertrain Control Module, to TCS, or Traction Control System.)
8. Repeat Step 6 until you have reset all the codes in all the computer modules.
Note: Only reset the codes if you want to- it is not necessary to reset them every time you pull the codes.
9. When finished, simply take your key out of the ignition.

Hmm...I thought all C6's you could skip shift from the factory? Are Z06's the only ones that do this? I bought my all stock and I can skip shift without any problems.

Not sure what you mean...all C6s have a skip shift solenoid that forces shifter from 1st to 4th when three conditions are met.

1. Coolant above 169.
2. 15-19 mph speed.
3. Throttle at 21% or less.
Skip shift light will come on when the solenoid is activated to tell you that the shifter will go into fourth if shifted at that time.

Cclive is correct. Crazy you may not be activating it due to throttle angle. If you give it much gas at all, it will keep it from skip shift. That is what many folks do rather than installing the eliminator.

As Long as they told you correctly on what code you have, then my guess would be yes. If you bought the $25 eliminator the code would likely be gone. It's way cheaper than a scan tool. But then again, you may want the scan tool for other stuff.
